Get in touch and complete your purchase

Updated on July 20, 2026

Found the right listing? Here's how to get in touch with the seller and complete your purchase safely. One important note upfront: Gunfinder connects you with the seller but is not involved in the transaction itself — payment and shipping are arranged directly between you and the seller.

1. Contact the seller

Click Buy or Ask a question on the listing. This opens the Gunfinder chat with the seller. Keep all communication in this chat — it keeps everything on record and your photos are automatically protected with a watermark.

2. Clarify the details

Discuss everything important in the chat: the condition and completeness of the item, the price, and how you'll handle payment and shipping. For items requiring a permit, you'll also need to sort out proof of eligibility to purchase.

3. Have your proof of eligibility ready

For many firearms and for ammunition, you must be eligible to purchase. Have your authorization ready and send it to the seller upon request — in full and legible — via the chat. Find out which authorization applies to what here.

4. Agree on payment and handover

You agree on payment and shipping directly with each other. The safest option is an in-person handover with cash on collection. Never transfer larger amounts upfront without security, and be cautious with foreign bank accounts. You'll find all safety tips at Safe trading on Gunfinder.

5. After the purchase

If you're buying a firearm that requires a permit, don't forget to register it with your Waffenbehörde. For details on the legal process of handover, see Shipping firearms. If the seller doesn't respond, the article Seller not responding can help.
