Buy on Gunfinder

How do you shop on Gunfinder?

Gunfinder is both a marketplace and a search engine. This means you can find listings published exclusively on Gunfinder, as well as offers from all other major platforms and online shops such as Frankonia, egun, or the VDB.

That's why you'll find the best deals on the web right here on Gunfinder. For this reason, there are also two different purchasing processes.

For offers from other shops, we'll redirect you directly to the relevant shop.

For offers listed directly on Gunfinder, you can get in touch with the seller right away: simply click the green "Buy" button.

How do I communicate with the seller?

Depending on whether the offer was published directly on Gunfinder or comes from another site, there are two ways to contact the seller.

Marketplace listing:

On a marketplace listing, you'll see a button next to the green Buy button that says "Ask a question", marked with an envelope icon. Clicking it lets you send the seller a question.

If the offer was published on another platform such as the VDB, we'll redirect you when you click the green button, where you can then get in touch with the seller.

I can't reach the seller

When you send the seller a message through the Gunfinder messaging system, they'll also receive an email notification from us. In our experience, it can take up to several days for the seller to respond.

If you haven't received a reply to your question after an unreasonably long time, you can report the seller to us and we'll try to reach them again. For privacy and security reasons, however, we cannot share a seller's contact details with interested buyers.

If you still don't receive a reply, there could be many reasons for this:

  • The seller has received a large number of enquiries and needs some time to work through them.

  • The seller has limited online access — maybe they're out hunting or on holiday?

  • The notification ended up in their spam folder. Try sending them another message.

  • They're not interested in your offer. In that case, it's worth looking for another listing.

Can I also call the seller?

We currently don't offer the option to publish a phone number in a listing.

Arranging things by phone can of course make sense, but the seller would need to share their phone number with the interested buyer directly. We recommend handling the majority of communication in writing to keep the sales process transparent and secure.

Payment was made, but the seller isn't responding / hasn't shipped the item. What should I do?

It can take a few days for the seller to respond. Please bear in mind that both the payment processing and shipping can take several days. Please give the seller some time to get the item to the post office — especially with firearms, many private sellers have little experience and are particularly cautious.

If you've been waiting an unreasonably long time for a response and haven't received any clarification, please proceed as follows:

  • Set the seller a final deadline to either ship the item or refund your payment.

  • Report the seller to us so we can investigate.

  • File a police report, providing all relevant details such as the listing number, the seller's bank details, phone number, and message history.

I received an item that doesn't match the description.

Please bear in mind that private sales cannot be held to the same standards as professional sellers. We recommend clarifying all details about the item in advance. Please check the item description and photos carefully for any signs of damage, and contact the seller directly if needed.

If there are verifiable damages or discrepancies with the item that weren't apparent from the listing, you may be able to negotiate a price reduction with the seller.

If you can't reach an amicable solution, we recommend seeking legal advice if appropriate. Please report the matter to us. If we receive multiple reports about an unreliable seller, we can take appropriate action.

Please note: Since you are purchasing the item from the seller, your contract is with them alone, not with Gunfinder. We are unable to assist in the event of a complaint and ask that you consult a legal professional.

My shipment never arrived.

Parcels can always be tracked using their tracking number. Ask the seller for the tracking number and the logistics company they used to ship the firearm. Firearm shipments are typically handled by Overnite. With Overnite, shipments can also be tracked online, and the driver can be reached by phone.

If you've been waiting an unreasonably long time for delivery and haven't received any clarification from the seller, please proceed as follows:

  • Set the seller a final deadline to either send the paid item or refund the purchase price.

  • Report the situation to our customer service team using the damage report form so they can investigate the seller.

  • File a police report, providing all relevant details such as the listing number, the seller's bank details, phone number, email correspondence, etc. Especially in cases

  • involving firearm shipments, reporting any irregularities to the police is absolutely essential!

The price of a listing is too high / too low

In general, a seller is free to choose what price they want to sell their item for. A high price is often down to the sentimental value the item holds for the seller — after all, who wants to part with the trusty rifle that's been by their side for a lifetime of hunting? Prices that seem too low, however, can often be rightly suspicious. The item on offer may be faulty or damaged, or it could be a scam attempt — both good reasons to report the listing to us, so we can have it reviewed by our experts.
