Seller not responding

Updated on July 14, 2026

It can be frustrating when you're waiting for a response from a dealer and not hearing back.

Here are some steps you can take:

Wait long enough:

Dealers and private sellers can be very busy, and it may take some time before they see your message and are able to respond. It's recommended to wait at least 24–48 hours before taking further action. PLEASE NOTE!: Especially during holiday and vacation periods, as well as on public holidays, responses to your inquiries may take a little longer than usual. We appreciate your understanding.

Send a follow-up message:

If you still haven't received a reply after a reasonable waiting period, send another message. Your previous message may have been overlooked. Private sellers in particular don't check the Gunfinder chat every day.
The seller will be notified and reminded about the new message via email.
Gunfinder strongly advises against bypassing the platform and sharing your email address or mobile number with the seller!

Check whether the dealer / seller is verified:

On the seller's profile, make sure they are verified, meaning they have completed identity verification.
You can recognize this by the small shield icon next to the dealer's name.
If a seller has not yet verified their account, our buyer protection system kicks in!
This means you can message the seller, but for security reasons they can only reply once their identity verification is complete. This protects our users from fraud attempts and increases safety for everyone on Gunfinder. The seller can still see all messages and will be notified about them. Consider contacting other dealers:

Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, Gunfinder has little influence over the communication between sellers and interested buyers.
If the dealer still doesn't respond and you urgently need an item, you should consider contacting other dealers. There are many dealers on Gunfinder, and we're growing all the time! This gives you a wide selection, and you should be able to find a dealer who can meet your needs.
