Needle Fire Defension Rifle Ö/M (Austrian Model),

Manufacturer Krause Herzberg, Cal. 15.4, Ser. No. 4196. Matching numbers. The interior of the barrel is sharp-edged and polished except for the muzzle area. There are still some light residues in the muzzle area that can be improved with intensive cleaning. The system is stamped with the modification year 1869 and Herzberg K. Good deep Prussian acceptance stamps in the stock. The metal parts are polished.

Rare needle fire rifle that originated from the war booty of the Austrian percussion Lorenz rifles Mod. 1854 and was issued to the microstate of Hesse, as well as to the Prussian Landwehr. These were still armed with muzzle-loaders in 1866 and had a need for the "new" breech-loading weapons after the 1866 war. The modified rifles mostly went to the Landwehr. About 35,000 pieces were converted!
