Shield International was founded in 1983 in the USA and originally dealt with special solutions for sports shooters as well as military and authorities. The expertise of the company and its founder and experienced IPSC shooter Jeremy White led to the development of the Shield Minis Sights in 1996, introduced at that time as "Firepoint." From 1998, this sight was manufactured in larger quantities as "Tasco Optima." Smith & Wesson then jumped on the bandwagon, and Docter also used the concept with a slightly modified footprint. Over the years, the quantity in the military and governmental application area also grew, especially special forces were enthusiastic about the mini reflex sights. After successes with military contracts and rebranding their own technology, Shield International began to focus more on the civilian market from 2014 onwards and today successfully sells some of the smallest and most robust sights on the market under its own name.

Nach den Erfolgen mit Militäraufträgen und rebranding der eigenen Technologie begann sich Shield International ab 2014 verstärkt auf den Zivilmarkt zu konzentrieren und vertreibt heute unter eigenem Namen sehr erfolgreich mit die kleinsten und robustesten Visiere am Markt.
