The Glock GmbH, founded in 1963 in Deutsch-Wagram, Austria, produces field knives and semi-automatic pistols that are very popular worldwide. The semi-automatic pistols are particularly used by European armies and authorities.
Due to the "Safe-Action" system installed in Glock pistols, the weapons are considered very safe and easy to handle. The absence of an external safety is replaced by three internal safeties built into the weapon. This system is installed in all currently over 50 pistols in the Glock range. They mainly vary in caliber and other details such as length or magazine capacity, making them suitable for a wide range of applications.
The variety of different models allows every shooter to find the right pistol for their needs in the Glock range. Pistols are available in calibers 9 mm Luger, .40 S&W, .380 Auto, 10 mm Auto, .45 Auto, .45 G.A.P, and .357 SIG - and recently also in .22 l.r. with the Glock 44, designed for training and civilian purposes. Additionally, Glock offers different pistol models in the Standard, Compact, Compact Slimline, Subcompact, Subcompact Slimline, Longslide, Competition, and Crossover lines.
The most popular model of Glock is the Glock17, which is among the most popular weapons worldwide for sports shooters, hunters, as well as authorities and military units. The pistol in the classic caliber 9mm Luger has been manufactured since 1982, now in its fifth generation. The weapon is made almost entirely of polymer, except for the barrel and some parts, making it lightweight, easy to maintain, and robust. Furthermore, it is designed to be as simple as possible - without sacrificing precision.
