The SigSauer P220 Legion is a modernized variant of the weapon with which it all began - the original P220 was the result of the collaboration between the Swiss company SIG and the German company Sauer. The SA/DA pistol in .45 ACP caliber with decocking feature, introduced in 1976, quickly spread in the law enforcement market and laid the foundation for a whole series of developments, the most famous being the P226 in 9mm Luger.
The P220 Legion features a slide made of stainless steel and a frame made of a lightweight yet sturdy alloy. The durable coating is in the typical "Legion Gray" and is complemented by G10 grip panels with the Legion emblem. The controls are flatter and more rounded to prevent snagging on gear or clothing. A steel guide rod and, of course, the revised, polished "Short Reset Trigger" with P-SAIT trigger shoe complete the Legion package.
The Legion also includes all the other features of the modern P220 generation:
The beavertail is cut higher and kept shorter, the trigger guard is raised at the frame and has a textured front with a "hook" - all for a safer, dynamic grip according to new shooting concepts. A Picatinny rail on the dust cover allows for the mounting of accessories, and the slide is equipped with pronounced serrations at the front and rear for slip-free handling even under adverse conditions. An optic-ready cut with Leupold Delta Point Pro (SigSauer Pro) footprint is integrated into the slide.

Die SigSauer P220 Legion ist eine modernisierte Variante der Waffe mit der alles begann - die ursprüngliche P220 war das Resultat der Zusammenarbeit der Schweizer Firma SIG mit der Deutschen Firma Sauer. Die 1976 vorgestellte SA/DA Pistole im Kaliber .45 ACP mit Entspannfunktion verbreitete sich schnell auf dem Behördenmarkt und legte den Grundstein für eine ganze Reihe von Weiterentwicklungen, die bekannteste die P226 in 9mm Luger.
Die P220 Legion verfügt über einen Schlitten aus Stainless Steel und einem Griffstück aus einer leichten, aber stabilen Legierung. Die widerstandsfähige Beschichtung ist im typischen "Legion Gray" gehalten und wird komplementiert durch Griffschallen aus G10 mit Legion-Emblem. Die Bedienelemente sind flacher und abgerundeter gehalten um ein Hängenbleiben an Ausrüstung oder Kleidung zu verhindern. Eine Federführungsstange aus Stahl und natürlich der überarbeitete, polierte "Short Reset Trigger" mit P-SAIT Abzugszüngel runden das Legion-Paket ab.
Die Legion verfügt natürlich auch über alle anderen features der modernen P220 Generation:
Das Beavertail ist höher geschnitten und kürzer gehalten, der Abzugsbügel ist am Griffstück hochgezogen und an der Front schraffiert und mit einem "Haken" ausgestattet - alles für einen sichereren, dynamischen Griff nach neuen Schießkonzepten. Eine Picatinnyschiene am Dustcover erlaubt die Montage von Zubehör, der Schlitten ist vorne und hinten mit ausgeprägten Durchladerillen versehen, für eine rutschfreie Handhabung auch unter widrigen Bedingungen. Eine Optic Ready Aufnahme mit Leupold Delta Point Pro (SigSauer Pro) footprint ist im Schlitten integriert.
