The Smith & Wesson Model 686 Security Special is a variant of the well-known Model 686, which is based on the L-frame. Like all 686 models, it features a barrel, frame, and cylinder made of Stainless Steel and an adjustable sight. A special feature is the matte finish and the wood grip designed for carrying, which provides a secure hold due to its shape but does not add unnecessary bulk when carried in a holster. Designed for use in security services, it is also excellent as a backup weapon. The slim wood grip can also be used with speedloaders.

Der Smith & Wesson Model 686 Security Special ist eine Variante des bekannten Model 686, welches auf dem L-Rahmen basiert. Wie alle 686 Modelle verfügt er über Lauf, Rahmen und Trommel aus Stainless Steel und eine Verstellvisierung. Eine Besonderheit ist die mattierte Oberfläche und der zum Führen ausgelegte Holzgriff, welcher aufgrund seiner Form für einen sicheren Halt sorgt aber beim Führen im Holster nicht unnötig aufträgt. Ausgelegt für den Einsatz beim Wachschutz eignet er sich auch hervorragend als Fangschusswaffe. Der schlanke Holzgriff kann auch mit Speedloadern verwendet werden.
