The Ruger RXM is a modular pistol in caliber 9mm Luger. In collaboration with Magpul, a weapon was created that combines modern features and modularity with proven technology and a vast accessory market. The core of the weapon is a encapsulated trigger unit, which constitutes the legally essential part - this allows the grip to be swapped at will - thus, the shooter has various sizes and colors available. This way, you can turn your "Compact" into a "Subcompact" or "Fullsize".

Technically, the system is heavily based on the Glock Gen3 (or "Gen previous") - this weapon was deliberately taken as a model to exploit the vast accessory market for Glock. From sights, recoil springs, magazine release and slide stop levers, to the magazines, the Ruger RXM is compatible with many parts of the Glock Gen3.
Magpul designed the grips so that a large number of holsters compatible with Glock also work for this weapon. And since we are already on the grip - it is slim and without finger grooves, with a pronounced undercut at the trigger guard: for a secure and high grip. The grip texture is the TSP known from Magpul's long gun grips - unobtrusive and grippy. A cutout at the magazine release lever and a surrounding, integrated magazine funnel complete the well-thought-out grip.
The optics mounting is a modern design that does not require adapter plates - the desired footprint is simply mounted directly on the slide, the matching pins are included with the weapon. Three footprints are available: Trijicon RMR, Leupold Delta Point Pro, and Shield RMSc. The factory-mounted sight is already higher, allowing for co-witnessing with some red dot sights.
A concession to the Glock Gen3 "DNA" is the one-sided operation: the slide stop lever and magazine release button are only present on the left side of the weapon. With a trigger weight of about 2,100g, the trigger corresponds to its purpose as a universal pistol. As of now, most Glock triggers do NOT fit. However, there is already one from Timney that we have on the way.
Whether for beginners looking for an affordable yet reliable and high-quality pistol or for advanced users wanting to utilize the extensive accessory market - Ruger has been producing pistols for the civilian and law enforcement markets since 1985, and the models are all reliable and very popular in the US market, but hardly known here. But the company knows what it is doing. And through the cooperation with Magpul, taking the accessory market into account, Ruger has created a truly interesting pistol.

Die Ruger RXM ist eine modular aufgebaute Pistole im Kaliber 9mm Luger. In Zusammenarbeit mit Magpul entstand eine Waffe, die moderne Features und Modularität mit bewährter Technik und einem riesigen Zubehörmarkt vereint. Der Kern der Waffe ist eine gekapselte Abzugseinheit, welche das waffenrechtlich wesentliche Teil bildet - dadurch kann das Griffstück nach Belieben getauscht werden - dem Schützen stehen somit verschiedene Größe und Farben zur Verfügung. So macht man aus seiner "Kompakten", eine "Subkompakte" oder "Fullsize".

Technisch basiert das System stark auf der Glock Gen3 (oder "Gen previous") - diese Waffe wurde bewusst als Vorbild genommen um den riesigen Zubehörmarkt für Glock auszunutzen. Über Visierungen, Verschlussfedern, Magazinlöse- und Verschlussfanghebel, bis hin zu den Magazinen ist die Ruger RXM in vielen Teilen Glock Gen3 kompatibel.
Magpul hat die Griffstücke so gestaltet, dass ein Großteil der für Glock passenden Holster auch für diese Waffe funktionieren. Und da wir schon beim Griffstück sind - dieses ist schlank und ohne Fingerrillen gehalten, mit einem deutlichen Undercut am Abzugsbügel: für einen sicheren und hohen Griff. Die Grifftextur ist die von Magpuls Langwaffengriffen bekannte TSP - unauffällig und griffig. Ein Freischnitt am Magazinlösehebel und ein umlaufender, integrierter Magazintrichter runden das durchdachte Griffstück ab.
Die Optikmontage ist ein modernes Design, welches ohne Adapterplatten auskommt - der gewünschte Footprint wird einfach direkt auf dem Schlitten montiert, die passenden Pins liegen der Waffe bei. Es stehen drei Footprints zur Verfügung: Trijicon RMR, Leupold Delta Point Pro und Shield RMSc. Die ab Werk montierte Visierung ist bereits höher ausgeführt, sodass bei einigen Leuchtpunktvisieren ein Co-Witness möglich ist.
Ein Zugeständnis an die Glock Gen3 "DNA" ist die einseitige Bedienung: Verschlussfanghebel und Magazinlöseknopf sind nur auf der linken Waffenseite vorhanden. Mit einem Abzugsgewicht von ca. 2.100g entspricht der Trigger dem Einsatzzweck als universelle Pistole. Nach aktuellen Stand passen die meisten Glock Abzüge NICHT. Es gibt aber schon einen von Timney, den wir in Zulauf haben.
Egal ob für Einsteiger, die eine günstige aber zuverlässige und qualitativ gute Pistole suchen oder Fortgeschrittene, welche den umfangreichen Zubehörmarkt nutzen wollen - Ruger produziert seit 1985 für den Zivil- und Behördenmarkt Pistolen, die Modelle sind allesamt zuverlässig und sehr beliebt auf dem US-Markt, aber hierzulande kaum bekannt. Aber die Firma weiß, was sie tut. Und durch die Kooperation mit Magpul unter Berücksichtigung des Zubehörmarkts hat Ruger eine wirklich interessante Pistole geschaffen.
