The Glock 20 Gen.4 is a Glock variant in caliber 10 mm Auto, developed from the Glock 17, which was developed for the Austrian Armed Forces in the early 1980s and is one of the first pistols with a polymer frame.
Since the weapon consists of about 40% of particularly stable plastic, it is very lightweight. To ensure stability and durability, the frame is reinforced with a few steel elements. The complete weapon consists of only 34 components, thus offering a high degree of reliability.
The development of the Glock Safe-Action trigger system represented a milestone in firearm construction. In this system, the firing pin is partially tensioned by retracting the slide. Die Glock 20 Gen.4 ist eine Glock Variante im Kaliber 10 mm Auto, entwickelt aus der Glock 17, die Anfang der 1980er Jahre für das österreichische Bundesheer entwickelt wurde und eine der ersten Pistolen mit Kunststoffgriffstück ist.
Da die Waffe zu ca. 40 % aus besonders stabilen Kunststoff besteht ist sie sehr leicht. Um Stabilität und Haltbarkeit zu gewährleisten ist das Griffstück mit wenigen Stahlelementen verstärkt. Die komplette Waffe besteht aus nur 34 Bauteilen und bietet so einen hohen Grad an Zuverlässigkeit.
Die Entwicklung des Glock Safe-Action Abzugsystems stellte einen Meilenstein im Waffenbau dar. Bei diesem System wird der Schlagbolzen durch zurückziehen des Schlittens teilgespannt.
