The SIG Sauer P 239 was developed and manufactured as the SIG P 239 by the former SIG Arms AG in Switzerland as a compact, concealable defense pistol. The designation SIG Sauer comes from the cooperation between SIG and Sauer & Sohn, with Sauer distributing the P 239 as SIG Sauer in the USA, where it is quite popular. The P 239 is produced in the calibers 9x19 mm Para / 8-round magazine, .40 S&W / 7-round magazine, and .357 SIG / 7-round magazine.
The blank-firing pistol SIG Sauer P 239 was developed by Enser Sportwaffen and manufactured under the first PTB approval 696 for J.P. Sauer & Sohn GmbH. After the insolvency of Enser Sportwaffen, ME took over the model and continued production for several years under the old PTB approval. With PTB 799 and 874, ME renewed the P 239 and addressed a few shortcomings in the design. Instead of Sauer & Sohn, ME is now listed as the PTB holder.
