The Eickhorn Seitengewehr 2000 was developed for the Bundeswehr by the renowned knife designer Dietmar Pohl, as there was no solution for the G36. The blade is based on the new version of the KM2000, featuring the revised tanto shape, and has the partial serration of the combat knife. Made from Eickhorn Professional steel, the 3.6mm thick blade offers high flexibility and toughness, as expected from such a universal knife.
The handle is made of GFK, as is the sheath, which can be attached to MOLLE systems or belts. This bayonet is delivered with the NATO attachment.

EICKHORN-Solingen GmbH is a traditional Solingen company for steel goods, founded in 1865 by Carl Eickhorn. The company early specialized in edged weapons and became known around 1900 for its military knives and bayonets. After several changes of ownership, the company is still a well-known and proven manufacturer of robust and reliable military knives and has recently expanded its range back to the civilian market, as it did in its early years, where it can draw on its expertise in the production of robust and pragmatic operational knives. The manufacturing takes place in the traditional manner in Solingen, making Eickhorn one of the few remaining traditional manufacturers.

Das Eickhorn Seitengewehr 2000 wurde vom bekannten Messerdesigner Dietmar Pohl für die Bundeswehr entwickelt, da es keine Lösung für das G36 gab. Die Klinge orientiert sich an der neuen Version des KM2000, mit der überarbeiteten Tanto-Form, und verfügt über den partiellen Wellenschliff des Kampfmessers. Gefertigt aus Eickhorn Professional Stahl bietet die 3,6mm starke Klinge eine hohe Flexibilität und Zähigkeit, wie man sie von einem solchen Universalmesser erwartet.
Der Griff besteht aus GFK, ebenso die Scheide, welche an MOLLE Systemen oder Gürteln befestigt werden kann. Dieses Bajonett wird mit der NATO-Aufnahme ausgeliefert.

Nach mehreren Besitzerwechseln ist die Firma aktuell immer noch ein bekannter und bewährter Hersteller robuster und zuverlässiger militärischer Messer und hat jüngst sein Sortiment, wie in den Anfangsjahren, wieder auf den Zivilmarkt ausgeweitet, wo es auf seine Expertise in der Fertigung robuster und pragmatischer Einsatzmesser zurückgreifen kann. Die Fertigung erfolgt standesgemäß in Solingen, damit ist Eickhorn einer der wenigen verbleibenden Traditionshersteller.
