The Hornady Precision Hunter 6mm ARC with 103gr ELD-X bullet offers the shooter unparalleled hunting performance from a compact weapon platform - focusing on long-range use but with a game-friendly behavior even at the shortest distances.
The 6mm ARC boasts a high sectional density and a streamlined trajectory, while the ELD-X bullet with "Heat Shield" tip ensures that the small cartridge performs at its best. The ELD-X bullet is a partially frangible bullet with a ballistic tip. The special "Heat Shield" construction significantly reduces the heating of the bullet due to air resistance, preventing deformation during flight - resulting in a consistently high ballistic coefficient of 0.512 (G1). Due to the surrounding connection of the jacket and bullet core, at least 50% of the weight remains even at the shortest distances - at greater distances, the remaining weight is higher, but the bullet still delivers its effect through the ballistic tip, which ensures reliable expansion. Therefore, it is realistic to achieve a hunting-usable effect at 500m and beyond - with a safe exit wound and penetration at all distances, provided that hitting is ensured.
Designed for a 200m zero, the cartridge fully utilizes its strength from a 24" barrel, but the common 16" and 18" barrels in the AR15 platform provide enough energy and speed to safely hunt medium game.
Please note:
The caliber is unfortunately not suitable for large game according to German law due to the small bullet diameter - the energy from a 24" barrel would be just over 2,000J at 100m, which is barely sufficient.

Die Hornady Precision Hunter 6mm ARC mit 103gr ELD-X Geschoss bietet dem Schützen aus einer kompakten Waffenplattform eine unerreichte jagdliche Leistung - mit Fokus auf den Long Range Einsatz aber einem wildbretschonenden Verhalten auch auf kürzeste Entfernungen.
Die 6mm ARC trumpft mit einer hohen Querschnittsbelastung und einer langgestreckten Flugbahn auf, das ELD-X Geschoss mit "Heat Shield" Spitze sorgt dafür, dass die kleine Patrone alles leistet was möglich ist. Das ELD-X Geschoss ist ein Teilzerleger mit ballistischer Spitze. Die spezielle "Heat Shield" Konstruktion verringert die Erwärmung des Geschosses durch den Luftwiderstand deutlich, wodurch es keine Verformung während des Fluges gibt - für einen gleichbleibend hohen ballistischen Koeffizienten von 0,512 (G1). Durch die umlaufende Verbindung von Mantel und Geschosskern bleibt auch auf kürzesten Entfernungen eine Restgewicht von mindestens 50% erhalten - bei größeren Entfernungen ist das Restgewicht höher aber das Geschoss entfaltet dennoch seine Wirkung durch die ballistische Spitze, welche für eine zuverlässige Expansion sorgt. Realistisch ist daher auf 500m und mehr eine jagdlich nutzbare Wirkung zu erzielen - mit einem sicheren Ausschuss und Tiefenwirkung auf alle Entfernungen. TREFFEN vorausgesetzt.
Ausgelegt auf ein 200m Nullpunkt spielt die Patrone Ihre volle Stärke aus einem 24" Lauf aus, aber die in der AR15 Plattform üblichen 16" und 18" Läufe bieten genug Energie und Geschwindigkeit um mittelschweres Wild sicher bejagen zu können.
