The Aimpoint® COA® is a red dot sight/collimator sight designed for use on handguns/pistols to enable quick, intuitive target acquisition and shooting. The flat, closed profile of the sight is also ideal for concealed carry and holstering.

COA stands for Clever Optics Advancement, and the name truly reflects its purpose: the small optic offers outstanding and highly shock-resistant construction combined with a clean 3.5 MOA dot that can be quickly and securely operated via side push buttons.
The perfectly integrated A-CUT® interface in the design of the COA, specifically developed for a direct, low mount on Glock pistols (or other handguns with A-Cut interface), allows the sight to be mounted extremely low on the weapon, enabling co-witnessing with the existing rear/front sight.
A-CUT uses a hook at the front and a wedge shape at the back, allowing the system to mechanically connect with the weapon's slide. The sight is essentially "clamped" into the slide. The clamping jaw is then only screwed onto the slide at the back/top. This can be seen a bit better in the product images than in the text description :) - The advantage over all sights with screws directly in the body: the structural integrity of the sight is significantly increased, allowing for higher shot loads and avoiding potential weak points from the drill holes. Large caliber handguns are highly desired here. The sight withstands loads according to MIL-STD-810G, 514.6E-1 Category 24 (see below).
Currently, the Aimpoint COA with the A-Cut interface is available, for example, as a combo/special model of the Glock 19.

Das Aimpoint® COA® ist ein Rotpunktvisier/Kollimatorvisier das für die Verwendung auf Kurzwaffen/Pistolen entwickelt wurde, um damit eine schnelle, intuitive Zielerfassung und damit Schussabgabe zu ermöglichen. Das flache, geschlossene Profil des Visiers ist außerdem ideal für das verdeckte Tragen und Holstern.

COA steht für Clever Optics Advancement und der Name ist wirklich Programm: die kleine Optik bietet eine herausragende und höchst schussfeste Verarbeitung kombiniert mit einem sauberen 3,5 MOA Leuchtpunkt der sich über seitliche Drucktasten schnell und griffsicher bedienen lässt.
Die perfekt ins Design des COA integrierte A-CUT® Schnittstelle, die speziell für eine direkte, niedrige Montage auf Glock-Pistolen (oder anderen Kurzwaffen mit A-Cut-Schnittstelle) entwickelt wurde, erlaubt das Visier extrem tief auf der Waffe zu montieren, so dass auch Co-Witnessing möglich ist mit der vorhandenen Kimme/Korn Visierung.
A-CUT nutzt einen Haken vorne und hinten eine Keilform, so dass sich das System mechanisch mit dem Verschluss der Waffe verbinden lässt. Das Visier wird in den Schlitten quasi "eingeklemmt". Die Klemmbacke wir dann hinten/oben nur auf dem Schlitten verschraubt. AUf den Produktbildern kann man das auch etwas besser erkennen als in der Textbeschreibung :) - Vorteil gegenüber allen Visieren mit Schrauben direkt im Korpus: die strukturelle Integrität des Visiers wird deutlich erhöht und damit sind höhere Schussbelastungen möglich und mögliche Schwachstellen durch die Bohrungen werden vermieden. Großkaliber-Kurzwaffen sind hier unbedingt erwünscht. So besteht das Visier Belastungen gemäß MIL-STD-810G, 514.6E-1 Kategorie 24 (s. unten).
Aktuell ist das Aimpoint COA mit der A-Cut Schnittstelle z.B. als Combo / Sondermodell der Glock 19 direkt erhältlich.
