Small and curious Sniffing around, the hedgehog scurries across the ground, always following its nose in search of treats. Its ears are small and barely visible in the fur, but they are very soft. The large nose and bright button eyes allow it to look curiously into the world. For better cuddling, this hedgehog has very soft spines and is an ideal companion for petting and hugging. The hedgehog, native to Germany, is a cultural follower and is more commonly found in cultural landscapes rather than natural environments. The hedgehog is a nocturnal solitary creature that spends the day in a nest to go foraging at night. It primarily eats insects, earthworms, millipedes, and ants. As a spiny hedgehog, it has spines on its back and sides as an effective defense weapon; the brown-breasted hedgehog has about six to eight thousand of these spines, which are modified, hollow hairs. Hedgehogs are restricted to the Old World, occurring in Europe, Africa, and parts of Asia. Klein und neugierigSchnüffelnd wuselt der Igel über den Boden, immer der Nase nach auf Suche nach Leckereien. Seine Ohren sind klein und im Fell kaum zu sehen, sie sind aber ganz weich. Die große Nase und die wachen Knopfaugen lassen ihn neugierig in die Welt gucken. Für den besseren Kuschelfaktor hat dieser Igel ganz weiche Stachel und ist ein idealer Begleiter zum Kraulen und Drücken. Der in Deutschland heimische Igel ist ein Kulturfolger und tritt häufiger in Kulturlandschaften statt natürlichen Umgebungen auf. Der Igel ist ein nachtaktiver Einzelgänger, der den Tag in einem Nest verbringt, um in der Nacht auf Nahrungssuche zu gehen. Er frisst vor allem Insekten, Regenwürmer, Tausendfüßer und Ameisen. Als Stacheligel hat er als wirksame Verteidigungswaffe Stacheln am Rücken und an den Flanken, beim Braunbrustigel sind es etwa sechs- bis achttausend, diese Stacheln sind modifizierte, hohle Haare. Igel sind auf die Alte Welt beschränkt, sie kommen in Europa, Afrika und Teilen Asiens vor.
