The Tinck Arms Perun X17 is a modern semi-automatic rifle based on the AR15/AR10 - even if the similarity is not immediately apparent - but in the powerful caliber .308 Winchester. The Slovenian manufacturer used many elements of the AR platform for the new weapon so that the shooter can rely on a large accessory market. Trigger, grip, and safety as well as barrel, barrel nut, bolt head, firing pin, and gas block with gas tube are compatible with AR15 Mil-Spec parts or AR10/SR25 parts. The magazine release lever and bolt catch lever also correspond to the original but are designed to be ambidextrous from the factory. This allows the use of third-party parts for wear items and is not tied to a single manufacturer.
The major differences are mainly found inside: the most outstanding feature is the hybrid gas system, which uses a standard AR15 gas block - mounted is the excellent adjustable gas block from Superlative Arms - to direct the powder gases through a shortened gas tube to a short stroke piston. This keeps the moving mass low and close to the center of gravity, while simultaneously avoiding the disadvantage of the AR15 and preventing dirt from being blown into the receiver and the shooter's face. The result is a weapon that sits steady during firing and operates very cleanly.
The system spring runs in the receiver and not in a separate buffer tube - this makes the use of folding stocks possible without modification, and a length-adjustable Masada folding stock is mounted from the factory. Picatinny end plates are also available. The non-reciprocating charging handle can be mounted on both sides and is positioned above the system. The bolt carrier completely seals the system and prevents dirt ingress.
An M-LOK handguard rounds off the weapon system, with a long Picatinny rail at 12 o'clock for optics mounting, extended by a short offset rail near the muzzle for mounting accessories that should not obstruct the sight line - aiming lights, where permitted, or 12 o'clock bipods. The 5/8"x24 muzzle thread is equipped with a muzzle brake.

Die Tinck Arms Perun X17 ist eine moderne Selbstladebüchse auf Basis der AR15/AR10 - auch, wenn man die Ähnlichkeit auf den Ersten Blick nicht sieht - aber im starken Kaliber .308 Winchester. Der slowenische Hersteller benutzte viele Elemente der AR Plattform für die neue Waffe damit der Schütze auf einen großen Zubehörmarkt zurückgreifen kann. Abzug, Griff und Sicherung sowie Lauf, Laufmutter, Verschlusskopf, Schlagbolzen und Gasabnahme mit Gasrohr sind mit AR15 Mil-Spec Teilen bzw. AR10/SR25 Teilen kompatibel. Magazinlösehebel und Verschlussfanghebel entsprechen ebenfalls dem Vorbild aber sind ab Haus beidseitig bedienbar ausgeführt. Dadurch kann man auch bei Verschleißteilen auf Dritthersteller zurückgreifen und ist nicht an einen Hersteller gebunden.
Die großen Unterschiede findet man vor allem innen: das herausragendste Merkmal ist das hybride Gassystem, welches eine Standard AR15 Gasabnahme verwendet - montiert ist die hervorragende verstellbare Gasabnahme von Superlative Arms - um die Pulvergase über ein gekürztes Gasrohr auf einen short stroke piston zu leiten. Dadurch bleibt die bewegende Masse gering und nah am Schwerpunkt, aber gleichzeitig wird der Nachteil der AR15 vermieden und kein Dreck ins Gehäuse und das Gesicht des Schützen geblasen. Das Ergebnis ist eine Waffe die ruhig im Schuss liegt und sehr sauber läuft.
Die Systemfeder läuft im Gehäuse und nicht in einer separaten buffer tube - dadurch ist die Verwendung von Klappschäften ohne Modifikation möglich und ein längenverstellbarer Masada-Klappschaft ist ab Werk montiert. Es sind auch Picatinny-Endplates erhältlich. Der nicht-mitlaufende Ladegriff kann auf beiden Seiten montiert werden und liegt über dem System. Der Verschlussträger schließt das System komplett ab und verhindert das Eindringen von Dreck.
Ein M-LOK Handschutz rundet das Waffensystem ab, eine lange Picatinnyschiene auf 12 Uhr zur Optikmontage wird erweitert durch eine abgesetzte kurze Schiene nahe der Mündung zur Montage von Zubehör, welches die Visierlinie nicht stören soll - Zielleuchten, wo erlaubt, oder 12 Uhr Zweibeine. Das 5/8""x24 Mündungsgewinde ist mit einer Mündungsbremse ausgestattet.
