Sturdy Loden Trousers for Nature Boys: Our "Bux"
When are you finally going to make a hunting trouser out of loden? – A question asked seemingly countless times at trade fairs in recent years. We took our time, but the saying "Good things take time" doesn't come from nowhere. In the end, all the testing and modifying paid off, because now our "Bux" has truly become a character type!
Made for hunting but actually too good to be worn only there
The "Bux" loden trousers are warm and sturdy hunting pants made from our high-quality 570g loden fabric made of pure virgin wool. The front and back patch pockets, as well as a narrow knife pocket on the right side, provide space for smaller items and warm hands.
The knee area is shaped ergonomically with darts, allowing good freedom of movement when walking and kneeling. The knee is not only the most stressed area of a pair of trousers but is also very exposed when sitting, as the fabric lies flat there. It is the spot where the cold spreads the fastest when sitting still and seeps into the joints. These are two reasons why we have reinforced the knee area with a second layer of loden.
In the back area, a shaped waistband extends a good way above the belt line to provide an extra bit of warmth in the kidney area and to counteract cooling from behind in winter. The "Bux" is designed for a comfortable wearing experience and also serves as an additional insulation layer, fully lined along the length of the legs. The loden hunting trousers are fastened with a button and hook, providing double security in the closure. The belt loops fit belts up to 4cm wide.
Water-repellent and easy to care for
The loden is, in addition to its natural properties, also equipped with a silicone finish. Silicone is free from PFT or PFC, the environmental toxins that have been widely discussed in recent years because they do not break down in nature. The pants are therefore not waterproof, but offer good water-repellent properties. If loden gets wet, it's not a big deal. Anyone who has worn truly wet loden against their skin knows that it is not an empty marketing promise that virgin wool, unlike synthetics, still provides warmth even when wet.
Natural stains like mud or sweat can be most easily removed by simply ignoring them until they are completely dry. After that, you just need to rub a little with your hand or a soft clothing brush, and the dirt is gone. Dealing with odor contamination is even simpler with loden: Just hang the pants outside overnight, and by the next morning, the wool and fresh air will have done their job.
If the dirt is a bit more stubborn, the pants can also withstand a wool wash cycle (with wool detergent!) in the machine. However, we recommend, as with all products made from pure virgin wool, hand washing or taking them to the cleaner. Machine washing in cycles other than the wool wash cycle means for loden, just like for merino shirts or underwear, the end of an otherwise long friendship.
Comfortable fit from the start and still easily adjustable by a tailor!
Leg length, hips, and waist vary greatly among men. The hunting pants "Bux" have been extensively tested in their basic form on different body types and are cut to be as compatible as possible. However, if it is not perfect right away, that is no problem at all. Due to its cut, it can be easily adjusted in both leg length and hip circumference – similar to a suit pant. Any alteration tailor can create a perfectly fitting custom garment for you at a low cost.
How to Measure Correctly
Waist MeasurementTake a measuring tape and first measure your waist. Measure at the line where you wear your belt. The measuring tape should lie loosely and without tension, and a shirt can be underneath, as it will also be tucked into the pants later. If you don't have a measuring tape handy, a piece of string will also work, which you can mark and then hold against a ruler.
Inseam LengthMeasure from the crotch to the top of your foot, so that the measurement ends about 2-3 cm above the ground.
