Conical runout, chamber stamped P and V with US eagle (proofed and view). Very finely adjustable sight with Bufington fine sight. Lock stamped US Model 1878, lock plate with US eagle and US Springfield stamp. Fore-end cap with side button for releasing and extending the cleaning rod bayonet. Walnut stock with deep, sharp acceptance marks and R.D.R. on the underside as well as rectangular US inspector mark SWI 1889. Length 132 cm. Original strap. Butt cap with US stamp and compartment with swivel closure for cleaning accessories, cleaning cloth holder included. Spotless barrel with three grooves. Apart from a few storage marks on the stock, the weapon can be classified as nearly new. Attached is a US appraisal confirming that Springfield manufactured 1,000 of these rifles for testing series and that very few of them went into private ownership. Caliber .45/70 Gov.

Konischer Rundlauf, Kammer gestempelt P und V mit US Adler (proofed and view). Sehr fein justierbare Visierung mit Bufington Feinvisierung. Verschluss gestempelt US Model 1878, Schlossplatte mit US Adler und US Springfield Stempel. Vorderschaftabschluss mit seitlichem Drücker zum Lösen und Herausfahren des Ladestockbajonetts. Nussbaumschaft mit tiefen, scharfen Abnahmemarken und R.D.R. auf der Unterseite sowie rechteckiger US Inspektorenmarke SWI 1889. Länge 132 cm. Originalriemen. Kolbenkappe mit Stempel US sowie Fach mit schwenkbarem Verschluss zur Aufnahme für Reinigungszubehör, Putzlappenhalter beiliegend. Blitzblanker Lauf mit drei Zügen. Außer wenigen Lagerspuren am Schaft, kann die Waffe als nahezu neuwertig eingestuft werden. Anbei ein US Gutachten, das bestätigt, dass Springfield 1.000 dieser Gewehre für Versuchsreihen herstellte und nur sehr wenige davon in Privatbesitz gingen. Kaliber .45/70 Gov.
