Whether for hiking, camping, bushcrafting, hunting, fishing, or just for leisure – the Wanderbux is extremely versatile. Its comfortable cut ensures freedom of movement, and the outer pockets (two open front pockets and two open back pockets, as well as two secure, side, flat zip pockets) provide space for gear. The ergonomically shaped knee area has a double layer of fabric that protects the pants and knees. The belt loops accommodate belts up to 4 cm wide, such as our leather belt "Unverwüstling". The pants are fastened with a zipper and metal button. The Wanderbux is delivered with extra-long legs and can therefore be tailored to the perfect individual length either by yourself or at any alteration shop for a small fee. After all, there’s nothing better when hiking than a well-fitting pair of pants!

The optimal fabric for summer outdoor pants

Polycotton combines the advantages of cotton and polyester. The fabric is lightweight and airy, with the pleasant feel of cotton, yet it is stable and strong, as expected from outdoor clothing. It dries quickly in the air and is resistant to UV radiation.
And in the warm season, this high-quality material combination offers another important advantage: it is breathable and very comfortable to wear in warm temperatures. Additionally, polycotton is easily machine washable up to 40°C.
Even with this material, there is a wide range from cheap and less durable junk to long-lasting qualities made from high-quality yarns and a uniform and dense weave. We use selected quality polycotton from European production.

PFC-free water-repellent pre-treated

The fabric is equipped with a PFC-free water-repellent treatment. PFC-free treatments are environmentally friendly because they do not leave non-degradable residues in nature, but they need to be refreshed from time to time. We recommend re-treating with a wax block and heat, e.g. with the Dr. Gees impregnation wax we offer. To do this, the wax is simply rubbed onto the fabric like with an eraser and liquefied with an iron at low heat and incorporated into the fabric. This takes a few minutes and can be repeated as often as desired. Especially before tours, this treatment provides an additional level of moisture protection.
By the way: Every treatment also has an impact on the breathability of a fabric. For example, if I only want to achieve protection against wet meadows in the morning dew, it makes sense to apply the treatment only to the lower leg areas and maintain as good breathability as possible. On longer trekking tours, one would prefer a complete treatment to be maximally protected against rain. But that is exactly the beauty of waxing: You can decide for yourself based on the respective conditions what makes sense.

How to Measure Correctly

Waist Size
Take a measuring tape and first measure your waist size. Measure at the line where you wear your belt. The measuring tape should lie loosely and without tension, and a shirt can be underneath, as it may later be tucked into the pants. If you don't have a measuring tape handy, a piece of string will also work, which you can mark and then hold against a ruler.

Inseam Length
Measure from the crotch to the top of your foot, so that the measurement ends about 2-3 cm above the ground.

Eine Hose für alle möglichen Outdooraktivitäten

Ob zum Wandern, für´s Camping, Bushcraften, Jagen, Angeln oder einfach für die Freizeit – die Wanderbux ist äußerst vielseitig. Ihr bequemer Schnitt sorgt für Bewegungsfreiheit und die Außentaschen (je zwei offene Front- und Gesäßtaschen, sowie zwei verschließbare, seitliche, flache Reißverschlusstaschen) bieten Platz für Ausrüstung. Die ergonomisch geformte Kniepartie hat eine doppelte Stoffschicht, die Hose und Knie schützt. Die Gürtelschlaufen fassen Gürtel bis zu 4 cm Breite, wie z.B. unseren Ledergürtel "Unverwüstling". Verschlossen wird die Hose mit Reißverschluss und Metallknopf. Die Wanderbux wird mit überlangem Beim ausgeliefert und kann dadurch selber oder in jeder Änderungsschneiderei für kleines Geld auf die perfekte Individuallänge gebracht werden. Es gibt schließlich nichts Besseres beim Wandern als eine gut sitzende Hose!

Der optimale Stoff für Sommer-Outdoorhosen

Polybaumwolle oder auch Polycotton vereint die Vorteile von Baumwolle und Polyester. So ist der Stoff leicht und luftig und hat den angenehmen Griff von Baumwolle, ist dabei aber stabil und stark, wie man es von Outdoorkleidung erwartet. Er trocknet schnell an der Luft und ist beständig gegen UV-Strahlung.
Und in der warmen Jahreszeit bringt diese hochwertige Materialkombination noch einen weiteren wichtigen Vorteil mit sich: Sie ist atmungsaktiv und bei warmen Temperaturen sehr angenehm zu tragen. Außerdem ist Polycotton problemlos maschinenwaschbar bis zu 40°C.
Auch bei diesem Material gibt es die ganze Bandbreite von billigem und wenig haltbaren Schrott bis hin zu langlebigen Qualitäten aus hochwertigen Garnen und einer gleichmäßigen und dichten Webung. Wir verwenden ausgewählten Qualitäts-Polycotton aus europäischer Fertigung.

PFC-frei wasserabweisend vorimprägniert

Der Stoff ist mit einer PFC-freien Imprägnierung wasserabweisend vorausgerüstet. PFC-freie Imprägnierungen sind umweltfreundlich, weil sie keine nicht-abbaubaren Rückstände in der Natur hinterlassen, müssen dafür aber hin und wieder aufgefrischt werden. Wir empfehlen die Nachimprägnierung mit einem Wachsblock und Wärme, z.B. mit dem von uns angebotenen Dr. Gees Imprägnierwachs. Dazu wird das Wachs einfach wie mit einem Radiergummi auf den Stoff aufgerieben und mit dem Bügeleisen bei niedriger Hitze verflüssigt und in den Stoff eingebracht. Das dauert ein paar Minuten und lässt sich beliebig oft wiederholen. Besonders vor Touren bringt diese Ausrüstung ein zusätzliches Maß an Nässeschutz.
Übrigens: Jede Imprägnierung hat immer auch einen Einfluss auf die Atmungseigenschaften eines Stoffes. Möchte ich z.B. nur einen Schutz gegen nasse Wiesen im Morgentau erreichen, bietet es sich an, die Imprägnierung nur an den unteren Beinpartien aufzubringen und eine möglichst gute Atmungsaktivität zu erhalten. Bei längeren Trekkingtouren wird man eher eine komplette Imprägnierung bevorzugen, um maximal gegen Regen geschützt zu sein. Aber das ist genau das Schöne am Wachsen: Man kann selber nach den jeweiligen Bedingungen entscheiden, was sinnvoll ist.

Was man von gewachsten Stoffen erwarten darf

Über gewachste Stoffe, auch als Waxed Cotton, Waxcotton oder Waxed Polycotton bezeichnet, gibt es viel Halbwissen und einige Missverständnisse. Was die Stoffe können, erläutern wir näher in unserem .

So messen Sie richtig

Bundweite
Nehmen Sie sich ein Maßband und messen Sie zuerst Ihre Bundweite. Gemessen wird auf der Linie, auf der Sie Ihren Gürtel tragen. Das Maßband liegt dabei locker und ohne Spannung auf, ein Hemd darf gerne noch darunter liegen, da es ja später ggf. auch in der Hose steckt. Wenn Sie kein Maßband zur Hand haben, tut es auch eine Schnur, die man markieren und dann an einen Zollstock halten kann.

Schrittlänge
Messen Sie vom Schritt bis zum Spann Ihres Fußes, so dass die Messung ca. 2-3 cm über dem Boden endet.
