Sword Philip IV. with sheath

Sword Philip IV. with Scabbard from the 14th century with a wide double-edged blade that tapers significantly towards the tip. The fuller features the inscription NULLA DE VIRTUTIBUS TUIS MAJOR CLEMENTIA EST ("None of your virtues is greater than that of mercy/grace") engraved on both sides.

The wooden grip is wrapped in red leather, and the crossguard, which curves towards the blade, as well as the pommel, are made of brass. In the center of the pommel, there is a circular recess with a floral motif engraved. Includes red wood/leather scabbard with throat, mouthpiece, and movable carrying rings made of brass.

The well-preserved original, found in a grave in Toulouse, is now located in the Musée de l’Armée in Paris, France.
