Basierend auf ihrem scharfen Vorbild im Kaliber .22 lfB ist die Q die konsequente Weiterentwicklung der Walther P22 Selbstladepistole. Auch wenn das Kleinkaliber hierzulande meist unterschätzt wird, wird die scharfe P22 beispielsweise von der Spezialeinheit SSF in Bangladesch für verdeckte Einsätze genutzt. Die Augenscheinlichste Neuerung der P22 Q ist das Polymergriffstück mit Hi Grip® Oberfläche. Dieser lässt die Waffe noch sicherer in der Hand liegen. Aber auch beim Demontagebügel wurde nachgebessert.Dieser wurde verstärkt und die Waffe lässt sich nun leichter zerlegen.
