Gudy van Poppels idea behind the Gitano was to design a folding knife that loosely draws on old Southern European folding knives but has a modern style. What he likes about these knives are their elegant lines and the often large blades in relation to the handles. LionSteel was excited about Gudy's idea and decided to start this collaboration with him and Tools For Gents, who helped them develop the final version. The Gitano is an EDC folding knife that joins the "Tradition by LionSteel" collection.
The Gitano features a wide clip-point blade made of Niolox stainless steel and a slim, ergonomic handle. It is available with 6Al4V titanium crowns and liners, while the handle scales can be made of olive wood, Santos wood, green canvas micarta, black G10, or carbon fiber. Gudy van Poppels Idee hinter dem Gitano war es, ein Klappmesser zu entwerfen, das lose auf alten südeuropäischen Klappmessern basiert, aber einen modernen Stil hat. Was ihm an diesen Messern gefällt, sind ihre eleganten Linien und die oft großen Klingen im Verhältnis zu den Griffen.
