Die Mittelpatrone 7,62 x 39 mm gehörte zur Ausrüstung der Roten Armee, der Armeen des Warschauer Pakts und der Volksbefreiungsarmee Chinas.
Die Patrone wurde hauptsächlich in dem Sturmgewehr Kalashnikov AK 47 verwendet.
