As Shirasaya refers to a special sword mounting that was used in the past for the gentle storage of the blade. Especially in peacetime, the blades were optimally protected in it. The unpainted magnolia wood absorbs moisture inside the scabbard, leads it outside, and thus protects the blade from rust. Many Shirasaya were provided with a "Sayagaki," an inscription that provided information about the smith, origin, and classification. On the streets of Japan, the inconspicuous mounting without a grip and guard was mainly used towards the end of the 19th century. At that time, the emperor prohibited the carrying of samurai swords. The Shirasaya mounting, which resembled a wooden sword or wooden stick, was a clever way to carry the sword unnoticed. - Blade in Shinogi-Zukuri style with fuller (Bo-Hi), hand-forged from 1045 carbon steel. - The blade is sharp-edged with an integrated Hamon line for a particularly authentic look. - Scabbard made of wood. - With a long tang, which is fixed in the grip with 2 bamboo pegs (Mekugi). Als Shirasaya bezeichnet man eine spezielle Schwert-Montierung, welche frher zur schonenden Aufbewahrung der Klinge genutzt wurde. Speziell in Friedenszeiten wurden die Klingen darin optimal geschtzt aufbewahrt. Das unlackierte Magnolien-Holz nimmt die Feuchtigkeit im Inneren der Scheide auf, fhrt sie nach Auen und schtzt somit die Klinge vor Rost. Viele Shirasaya wurden mit einem "Sayagaki", einer Aufschrift versehen, welche Auskunft ber Schmied, Herkunft und Zuordnung gab. Auf den Straen Japans fand die unauffllige Montur ohne Griff und Stichblatt vor allem gegen Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts Verwendung. Zu jener Zeit wurde vom Kaiser das Fhren von Samuraischwertern verboten. Die Shirasaya-Montierung, welche einem Holzschwert bzw. Holzstab sehr hnlich sah, war eine geschickte Mglichkeit das Schwert dennoch unbemerkt zu tragen. - Klinge im Shinogi-Zukuri-Stil mit Hohlkehle (Bo-Hi), handgeschmiedet aus 1045 Kohlenstoffstahl. - Die Klinge ist scharf geschliffen mit eingearbeiteter Hamon-Linie fr eine besonders autentische Optik. - Scheide aus Holz. - Mit langer Angel, welche mit 2 Bambusstiften (Mekugi) im Griff fixiert ist.
