Daher ist es ratsam, bei jedem Schuss einen geeigneten Gehörschutz zu tragen. Die Bedingungen in der Jagdpraxis lassen diesen Schutz jedoch nicht in jedem Fall zu. Auch ist das Jagen mit dem Schalldämpfer noch längst nicht zur Selbstverständlichkeit geworden. Dabei ist das Schießen damit besonders vorteilhaft! Denn nicht nur der Mündungsknall, sondern auch der Rückstoß wird deutlich gemindert. Beides trägt in erheblichem Umfang zum besseren Treffen bei. Auch im Sinne des Lärm- und Arbeitsschutzes bedeutet der Schalldämpfer eine deutliche Entlastung, da die Schmerzgrenze von 130 dB am Ohr meist unterschritten wird.
