It is powered by 3 ICR18650 batteries, but six CR123A batteries (which produce 1850 lumens) can also fit in its plastic holder. If less light is needed, like all Pro lamps, it can be reduced from 100 to 40 or even 10 percent power. The Tactical Defense Strobe (TDS) for non-contact defense against aggressors can also be activated from any switch position. The GL1500r also gives back a lot - it serves as a power bank with the included USB cable to charge a mobile phone battery, for example. BAS - Beam Adjustment System: The BAS provides a maximum amount of light regardless of the focus position.
