This pistol, manufactured in Germany in 1931, was known by the initials PPK, which in German means "Polizeipistole kurz." It was mainly used by the German army in World War II. This was also the pistol with which Adolf Hitler committed suicide. The PPK was the first semi-automatic pistol that could be carried with a round in the chamber without accidentally discharging the pistol in the event of a fall or a blow. Its practical and handy size, low recoil when shooting, and the safety of the mechanism made it a popular weapon among Western intelligence agencies during the 20th century. This pistol became especially known through the secret agent James Bond 007, who used it in many of his films and also liked to attach the silencer for "quiet" jobs.
Holly Hunter also used this pistol as Detective M.J. in the film "Copycat".
