here a historical WKII Camillus U.S.M3 US Marines combat knife including sheath U.S.M8 made of linen and fiberglass. The knife has been cleaned and oiled. The top side of the blade is sharpened, and the leather rings are a bit loose, but they sit firmly again when moistened. The pommel can be removed, allowing for additional rings to be added, which, however, affects the original condition.
I did not find any engraving on the blade, but I suspect that it is from the last model year, as the first models likely still had an engraving. The shape of the sheath fits perfectly with the blade of the knife, which has the manufacturer/model engraved.

Background: Original WW2 military issue, first issued in March 1943, discontinued in August 1944. The blade measures 6-5/8 inches, the overall length is 11-5/8 inches. Steel guard marked with US M3 CAMILLUS. Black carbon steel blade with ribbed leather grip and two pin iron pommel, the cap is marked with an ordinance bomb. The original fiberglass and linen sheath with iron tip is marked with U.S. M8 B.M. Co.

hier ein historisches WKII Camillus U.S.M3 US Marines Kampfmesser inklusive Scheide U.S.M8 aus Leinen und GFK. Das Messer wurde gereinigt und geölt. Die Klingenoberseite ist angeschliffen, und die Lederringe wackeln etwas, sitzen jedoch wieder fest, wenn man sie befeuchtet. Der Knauf kann entfernt werden, sodass zusätzliche Ringe hinzugefügt werden können, was allerdings den Originalzustand beeinträchtigt.
Ich habe keine Gravur auf der Klinge gefunden, vermute jedoch, dass es sich um das letzte Modelljahr handelt, da die ersten Modelle wohl noch eine Gravur hatten. Die Form der Scheide passt perfekt zum Stichblatt des Messers, das den Hersteller/Modell eingraviert hat.

Hintergrund: Original WW2 Militärausgabe, erstmals ausgegeben im März 1943, eingestellt im August 1944. Die Klinge misst 6-5/8 Zoll, die Gesamtlänge 11-5/8 Zoll. Stahlguard markiert mit US M3 CAMILLUS. Schwarze Kohlenstoffstahlklinge mit geriffeltem Ledergriff und zwei Pin-Eisenpommel, der Deckel ist mit einer Ordinanzbombe gekennzeichnet. Die originale Fiberglas- und Leinenscheide mit Eisenstirnstück ist mit U.S. M8 B.M. Co. markiert.
