The fat nubuck leather we use in many products has, in addition to its beautiful, rugged appearance, one major advantage: it is particularly well-suited for our products because it is so durable and easy to care for. Our recommendation is to care for the leather as infrequently as possible, as over time with use, the leather polishes itself and becomes increasingly resistant to external influences. However, if the leather comes into regular, intense contact with water, e.g., through frequent use in the rain, it may make sense to re-grease it. The rule remains: better to use the grease sparingly and less often than too frequently. Constant re-greasing makes the leather softer, which is not desired in most cases.

The "Mountaineer Leather Grease" we offer and recommend is a German quality product that we use ourselves. It is used both for the final treatment of freshly sewn products and for the care of our long-term equipment in use, providing good service. We offer the colorless grease in a size of 150 ml. It is, of course, also suitable for all other types of leather that occasionally need some greasing.

Das von uns in vielen Produkten verwendete Fettnubukleder hat neben seiner schönen, rauhbeinigen Optik vor allem einen ganz großen Vorteil: Es eignet sich besonders gut für unsere Produkte, weil es so widerstandsfähig und pflegeleicht ist. Unsere Empfehlung ist es, das Leder so selten wie möglich überhaupt zu pflegen, denn mit der Zeit der Benutzung poliert sich das Leder und wird immer resistenter gegen äußere Einflüsse. Kommt das Leder allerdings regelmäßig intensiv mit Wasser in Berührung, z.B. durch häufige Nutzung im Regen, kann es doch Sinn machen, es nachzufetten. Die Regel lautet aber weiterhin: Lieber sparsam und seltener, als zu häufig das Fett einsetzen. Durch ständiges Nachfetten wird das Leder weicher und das ist in den meisten Fällen gar nicht gewünscht.

Das von uns angebotene und empfohlene "Bergsteiger Lederfett" ist ein deutsches Qualitätsprodukt, das wir selber benutzen. Sowohl zur Endbehandlung der frisch genähten Produkte, als auch zur Pflege unserer langjährig im Einsatz befindlichen Ausrüstung findet es Verwendung und leistet einen guten Dienst.
