The fleece jacket that isn't one at all!
We call the material from which this jacket is made Loden fleece. The fabric is warm and soft like fleece fabric, but on the one hand, it is not made of polyester, but of 100% virgin wool. On the other hand, it is not a so-called knitted fabric (mesh fabric), as is common with fleece. Rather, it is a genuine double-faced Loden, meaning a woven fabric that is particularly densely processed and has been intensively brushed on both sides. With a weight of about 600g/m, it can certainly be classified as a heavy quality. We developed this fabric together with our cloth manufacturer specifically for our purposes. It is specially made for us and combines wind-resistant properties with good thermal insulation and a very pleasant, super-soft wearing comfort. Due to a special yarn structure and thickness and an elaborate brushing process, the fabric has an extremely soft and dense surface on both sides. In contrast to most other Loden fabrics, which tend to feel a bit rough, our Loden fleece can be worn directly on the skin without a scratchy feeling, for example, with short-sleeved shirts or T-shirts.
The design of the Loden fleece jacket "Urs"
The jacket has a sporty, modern cut and provides sufficient freedom of movement, making it particularly comfortable to wear during hunting. Two large zippered pockets, edged with genuine leather, offer space for some utensils and keep hands warm in winter. In the elbow, shoulder, and neck areas, we have additionally reinforced the outer fabric with patches made of regular Loden, also made of pure virgin wool. This protects the heavily used areas against wear and tear. The main elements of the jacket are double-stitched and, in addition to the main seam, are equipped with a so-called coverlock seam, which not only looks very chic but also provides additional security for all seams. Even if a seam gets caught in the branches, there is still a second, additional security underneath.
Cut and Sizes
The Loden fleece jacket "Urs" is available in sizes S, M, L, XL, and XXL. Please refer to the following table for the assignments to the clothing sizes. The measurements correspond to the jackets, and you should compare them with your body measurements, taking into account underwear, shirt, thin sweater, etc.

Explanations for the Size Chart
Important: The measurements provided in the table are taken from the garment. As a guideline, the measured chest circumference on the body should be 8-10 cm less than the chest circumference of the jacket. To determine the correct size, it is advisable to measure and compare your well-fitting favorite jacket or sweater.
It should be noted that the Urs – like a fleece jacket – is usually worn over a T-shirt and shirt, but under a proper winter jacket (as a so-called "midlayer"). Accordingly, it should be slightly looser than a sweater, but significantly tighter than the wax jacket or the thick winter jacket.
The back length value is measured from the bottom edge of the collar and indicates the length of the hunting jacket.
Arm length:The table entry indicates the sleeve length of the loden jacket, measured from the shoulder seam to the sleeve hem.
Waist:The waist measurement describes the waist circumference of the jacket. For the measurement, we laid the jacket on a flat surface, closed the zipper, and measured from left to right at approximately belly button height.
The loden hunting jacket is designed so that if you are between two sizes, we recommend ordering the smaller size. However, you can also give us a quick call, and we will advise you regarding the fit!
A jacket, two brands – why is that?
For understanding: The men's loden fleece jacket URS and the women's model ADELE were created around the same time as the establishment of our outdoor brand STEINKAUZ. Therefore, they are partially available under the label WALDKAUZ and partially as STEINKAUZ loden jackets. The hunting colors like moss green and brown were assigned to one, while the colorful leisure colors were assigned to the other brand. The same can be found, for example, with the rain cape WASSERMANN.
The intention behind this decision was primarily to avoid mixing items specialized for hunting with those that are not suitable for hunting under the WALDKAUZ label. Conversely, this does not pose a problem, but no hunter goes hunting in clothing that immediately stands out to the game, and just as little do they want to set out with a shoulder bag that can only be opened with an audible click! Hence, the necessary separation into WALDKAUZ and STEINKAUZ, in our opinion.
