Does anyone here still remember the 70s series "The Man in the Mountains," in which the bearded woodsman James "Grizzly" Adams lives alone in a log cabin in the deepest wilderness of the Rocky Mountains together with Ben the bear and a number of other forest inhabitants? I loved these stories and also the bear-like Adams, and as a child, I was fascinated by his wild wilderness life and not least by the woodsman outfit, of which the coarse wool shirt particularly stuck in my memory. So, old Adams was also the first one that came to my mind when we decided to include a rustic loden shirt in our WALDKAUZ program. Just like this piece, our shirt was to become, only perhaps with a slightly more modern cut.
Well, in the end, a bit more influence from our talented seamstresses flowed in, and they prevented me from designing a wool balloon with sleeves. But even with a modern, well-fitting cut, the "Grimbart" shirt is far from an ordinary lumberjack or hunting shirt and has once again become something truly special!
Merino hunting shirt with cut
The wool shirt is made from a thin loden (which is still much thicker than most shirt fabrics) produced in Germany. The pure merino wool keeps you warm, as you know from our other loden products, balances moisture, and breathes very well. The cut is slightly tailored and rather body-hugging but not too tight. After all, you want to be able to move while hunting and being outdoors.
If the torso is a bit too snug, the circumference can be increased by about 4 cm by unpicking two back seams specifically designed for this purpose. The shirt "Grimbart" features two patch pockets, a Kent collar, and cuffs that fasten with a button, making it easy to wear even with rolled-up sleeves.

Please note: Due to production reasons, the brown Grimbart shirts differ from the measurements of the other Grimbart colors (olive and gray).

Explanations for the Size Chart and Choosing the Right Size
If you already own a Grimbart: This new color variant runs slightly larger! Please compare the measurements just to be safe! Important: These measurements refer to the garment and not to your body measurements! In general, it is best to refer to your usual clothing size. To decide whether you want to wear the shirt more comfortably with plenty of mobility or rather fitted, refer to the additional values provided.
Caring for the wool shirt
You do not need to wash the Grimbart like a normal dress shirt after every wear. Wool, and Merino wool is no exception, can be wonderfully aired out overnight in fresh air. If the shirt does need more care, take it to a laundry or wash it yourself. However, be sure to use the wool wash cycle of your machine (max. 30 degrees Celsius) and a wool detergent. After drying, iron the shirt into shape with a steam iron.
