Wool Scarf made of 100% Merino Wool

Our ribbed wool scarf is made from pure merino wool and not only keeps you warm on cold winter days but also feels beautifully soft against the neck. The fluffy mélange yarn creates an earthy and very vibrant brown due to its blend of brown and dark green shades, and it pairs very well with our other nature-inspired colors. With a width of about 28 cm and a length of over 175 cm, it is generously sized and provides excellent coverage. At one end of the scarf, the hand-sewn WALDKAUZ label made of genuine leather subtly indicates its origin parallel to the ribbing.

The paths of the owl are unfathomable – or how "Hiasl" came to be...

When our good friend Mathias "Hisi" (yes, the illustrator of our first aid booklet!) introduced us to his friend and neighbor during one of our visits to Bayreuth, it was no coincidence: That one produces hunting and outdoor equipment made of loden and the other is a co-owner of a long-established family business with over 140 years of history, specializing for generations in the production of high-quality knitwear and fabrics made from wool, was reason enough for Hisi to bring the two friends together – for whatever reason. What a great idea! Since the first meeting, we, together with the company Fraas, which we are talking about here, have put a lot of creative work into several projects that will be presented here at WALDKAUZ in due time.

The first result of this collaboration is this beautiful and warm set made of merino wool hat and scarf, named as a small homage to its mediator "Hiasl". The name "Hiasl" or "Hisi" is not only the Bavarian short form of Mathias, but it also has its origins in a baroque figure from the early hunting history of Bavaria, where Hiasl went down in history as a Bavarian Robin Hood and wild poacher. That his career ended in a not-so-romantic disaster, we will leave aside for the sake of the beautiful story. Those who want to know more, sneak around.

Wollschal aus 100% Merino-Wolle

Unser gerippter Wollschal besteht aus reiner Merinowolle und hält an kalten Wintertagen nicht nur warm, sondern fühlt sich auch schön weich am Hals an. Das flauschige Melange-Garn ergibt durch seine Mischung aus braunen und dunkelgrünen Farbtönen ein erdiges und sehr lebendiges Braun und passt sehr gut zu unseren auch sonst naturnahen Farben. Mit einer Breite von etwa 28 cm und einer Länge von über 175 cm ist er großzügig bemessen und macht ordentlich dicht. An einem Ende des Schals weist das von Hand angenähte WALDKAUZ Label aus echtem Leder parallel zur Rippe dezent auf seine Herkunft hin.

Die Wege des Kauzes sind unergründlich – oder wie es zum "Hiasl" kam...

Als uns unser guter Freund Mathias "Hisi" (genau, der Illustrator unserer 1. Hilfe Fibel!) bei einem unserer Besuche in Bayreuth seinem Freund und Nachbarn vorstellte, war das kein Zufall: Daß der eine Jagd- und Outdoorausrüstung aus Loden herstellt und der andere Mitinhaber eines alteingesessenen Familienunternehmens mit einer über 140-jährigen Geschichte ist, das sich seit Generationen auf die Fertigung hochwertiger Strickwaren und Gewebe aus Wolle spezialisiert hatte, war dem Hisi Grund genug, die beiden Freunde einfach mal zusammen zu bringen – wofür auch immer. Was für eine gute Idee! Seit dem ersten Treffen haben wir zusammen mit der Firma Fraas, von der wir hier sprechen, viel kreative Arbeit in gleich mehrere Projekte gesteckt, die hier beim WALDKAUZ noch zu gegebener Zeit präsentiert werden.

Das erste Ergebnis der gemeinsamen Arbeit ist dieses schöne und warme Set aus Merino-Wollmütze und Schal und heißt als kleine Hommage an seinen Vermittler "Hiasl". Der Name "Hiasl" bzw. "Hisi" ist nebenbei nicht nur die bayerische Kurzform von Mathias, sondern hat seinen Ursprung auch noch in einer barocken Figur aus der jagdlichen Frühgeschichte Bayerns, wo der Hiasl als bajuwarischer Robin Hood und wilder Wilderer in die Bücher einging.
