With the Haenel "Competition Rifle" 223, short CR 223, the gunsmith Haenel continues its long tradition in the manufacturing of semi-automatic rifles. Once, the first assault rifle in history was built and developed at C.G. Haenel in Suhl. The CR 223 is a semi-automatic rifle with a piston system in caliber .223 Rem., based on the legendary AR 15 system. As a modern self-loader in centerfire configuration, the Haenel CR 223 also functions as a gas-operated rifle with a rotating bolt. The telescopic buttstock is adjustable in length in six stages. The rifle features a free-floating, cold-hammered barrel.
M-LOK Handguard
The aluminum handguard has two Picatinny rails (STANAG 4694, top/bottom). The fore-end is rounded on the sides (left/right) and thus flat with M-LOK interfaces. The fore-end is removable without tools.

C.G. Haenel has a long tradition as a manufacturer of semi-automatic and fully automatic sports and service weapons: With the StG44, the first assault rifle in the world was co-developed and manufactured at Haenel in Suhl in the 20th century. All the know-how of this weapon category flowed into the new development of the civilian CR and military MK models, which meet AR-15/M4 standards. An in-house production with cold forging facilities rounds off the expertise of the Suhl specialists. Here, sports and service weapons are manufactured that set standards in international comparison – made in Suhl, Germany.

Mit der Haenel „Competition Rifle“ 223, kurz CR 223 knüpft die Waffenschmiede Haenel an Ihre lange Tradition in der Fertigung von halbautomatischen Büchsen an.
Einst wurde bei C.G. Haenel in Suhl das erste Sturmgewehr der Geschichte gebaut und entwickelt. Es handelt sich bei der CR 223 um eine halbautomatische Büchse mit Pistonsystem im Kaliber .223 Rem. auf Basis des legendären AR 15 Systems. Als moderner Selbstlader in Zentralfeuer-Ausführung, funktioniert auch die Haenel CR 223 als Gasdrucklader mit Drehkopfverschluss. Der Teleskop-Hinterschaft ist in sechs Stufen längenverstellbar. Die Büchse verfügt über einen freischwingenden, kaltgehämmerten Lauf.
M-LOK Handschutz
Der Alu-Handschutz verfügt über zwei Picatinny-Schienen (STANAG 4694, oben/unten). Seitlich (links/rechts) ist der Vorderschaft abgerundet und dadurch flach mit M-LOK Schnittstellen. Der Vorderschaft ist werkzeuglos abnehmbar.
