It is based on the P2000 and meets all official requirements for service pistols with a barrel length of 98mm and a weight of 740g. H & K focused on the robust and precise modified Browning system (Browning-Petter system) during development. The pistol is available in calibers 9mm Para and .40 S&W. Since the latter is mostly used in the US market, it can be disregarded here. The magazine capacity in caliber 9mm Para is 15 cartridges. The development was a complete success. Immediately after the market launch, the customs administration ordered the weapon as a replacement for the SIG Sauer P6. Sie basiert auf der P2000 und erfüllt mit einer Lauflänge von 98mm und einem Gewicht von 740g alle behördlichen Anforderungen für Dienstpistolen. H & K setzte bei der Entwicklung auf das robuste und präzise modifizierte Browning System (Browning-Petter-System). Erhältlich ist die Pistole in den Kalibern 9mm Para sowie .40 S&W. Da letzteres größtenteils auf dem US Markt genutzt wird, ist dieses hier zu vernachlässigen. Die Magazinkapazität im Kaliber 9mm Para beträgt 15 Patronen. Die Entwicklung war ein voller Erfolg.
