Das Mauser Modell 98 wurde als Gewehr 98 im Jahr 1898 beim preußischen Heer eingeführt. Es ist ein Mehrladegewehr basierend auf dem Verschlusssystem des deutschen Waffenherstellers Mauser. Die Repetierwaffe mit Zylinderverschluss und dem in die Waffe integrierten Magazinkasten für fünf Patronen wurde ab 1898 in verschiedenen Ausführungen hergestellt.
