The 8x57 JRS is a top-class cartridge for combination guns, especially double-barreled rifles. It allows for a very fast rate of fire in double rifles, as the barrel is only minimally pushed out of the target when fired. Since there was already an 8x57 JR, it was a logical step to create a cartridge with a rim for break-action guns alongside the stronger 8-mm bullets of the 8x57 JS. The 8x57 JRS is therefore the sister cartridge of the rimless 8x57 JS. It was also introduced in 1905. Die 8x57 JRS ist eine erstklassige Patrone für kombinierte Waffen, insbesondere Doppelkugelwaffen. Man erreicht mit ihr in Doppelbüchsen eine sehr schnelle Schussfolge, da der Lauf beim Schuss nur minimal aus dem Ziel gedrückt wird. Da es schon eine 8x57 JR gab, war es der logische Schritt, neben der 8x57 JS mit den stärkeren 8-mm-Geschossen auch eine Patrone mit Rand für Kipplaufwaffen zu schaffen. Die 8x57 JRS ist also die Schwesterpatrone der randlosen 8x57 JS. Sie wurde ebenfalls 1905 eingeführt.
