Die 7x57 eignet sich gut für Entfernungen bis zu 200 m auf mittelstarkes bis hin zu eher schwächerem Rot- und Schwarzwild. Sie ist auch als Rehwildpatrone sehr beliebt, da sie eine sehr gute Wildbretschonung garantiert. Obwohl der berühmte Berufsjäger "Karamoja Bell" unter wohl idealen Bedingungen damit eine große Anzahl von Elefanten erlegt hat, ist sie nach heutigen Maßstäben weder eine Großwildpatrone, noch eine Patrone für schweres, starkes Wild.
