The ELD-X (Extremely Low Drag-eXpanding) bullets are a true technological advancement, with match-grade precision and the highest possible ballistic coefficient for optimal trajectory and low wind drift, as well as reliable, controlled expansion at all hunting-related distances. Hornady® engineers discovered that all conventional polymer tips from all manufacturers melt and deform in flight when a certain ballistic coefficient (BC value of 0.5) is exceeded. This effect does not occur with small-caliber varmint or hunting bullets with moderate BC values. However, at high BC values and distances over 365 m, this effect leads to deformation of the bullet tip and loss of precision.
