Die im Jahre 1893 zur 7x57 vorgestellte Schwesterpatrone mit Rand wurde für kombinierte Jagdwaffen entwickelt. Die jagdliche Verwendung stand hier immer im Vordergrund - wenn auch heute das Kaliber seine Bedeutung für das Schießen aus modernen Waffen verloren hat. GECO bietet mit dem 10,7 g schweren Teilmantel-Geschoss eine allen Ansprüchen genügende Standardlaborierung an. Die Wirkung ist bei gut platzierten Treffern tadellos. Aus diesem Grund gibt es jetzt auch das GECO ZERO (bleifrei) mit 8,2 g in diesem Kaliber.
