It is time and I unfortunately have to part with my beloved single-shot rifle Sturm, Ruger No. 1 in the absolute dream caliber .243 WIN. The rifle is my first choice for "combined" sitting on roe deer with the option to also sit on foxes at night. Since we are seeing more and more wild boars (now almost 90% corn) and the law requires an additional 0.5mm diameter for this species (sense or nonsense?!) I would have to let the wild boar go. Animal welfare, hunting law, and wildlife damage prevention are contrary to this caliber according to the law. That’s why I am parting with the rifle, as I need to acquire something suitable for "high game".
During hunting, I always handled the rifle only with a forend protector made of loden, which is why it lies very well. The bluing is well maintained and there is no corrosion or worn spots. The pictures serve for illustration and are part of the auction description.
The trigger breaks cleanly and without creep. The trigger weight is slightly higher than what the average German hobby shooter is used to, but it is still very good for an advanced shooter or even a veteran. Every hunter needs to get used to and be confident in their shooting.
I have equipped the rifle with the original Ruger mount in 30mm ring configuration. Steel and easy to (de-)mount.
The barrel is a good 60cm long, the projectile has full energy yield. Nevertheless - due to the block closure design - the overall length is only 107cm. The muzzle thread can be recut. Since the year of manufacture is 1996 and Ruger had already produced its own barrels by then, precision is no longer a matter of luck but is given with a large selection of loadings.

Es so weit und ich muss mich leider von meiner geliebten Blockbüchse Sturm, Ruger No. 1 im absoluten Traumkaliber .243 WIN trennen. Die Büchse ist meine erste Wahl bei "kombiniertem" Ansitz auf Rehwild mit Option für den Schneider nachts noch auf Reineke zu sitzen. Da sich bei uns (mittlerweile fast 90% Mais) immer mehr Schwarzkittel sehen lassen und das Gesetz für diese Wildart 0,5mm Durchmesser mehr verlangt (Sinn oder Unsinn?!) müsste ich das Schwarzwild ziehen lassen. Tierwohl, Jagdrecht und Wildschadensverhütung stehen sich laut Gesetz mit diesem Kaliber entgegen. Deswegen die Trennung von der Büchse, da ich mir was "hochwildtaugliches" anschaffen muss.
Auf der Jagd hatte ich die Büchse stets nur mit Vorderschaftschoner aus Loden geführt, weswegen sie sehr gut da liegt. Auch die Brünierung ist gepflegt und keine Korrosion oder abgeriebene Stellen vorhanden. Die Bilder dienen zur Veranschaulichung und sind Bestandteil der Auktionsbeschreibung.
Der Abzug bricht trocken und ohne Kriechen. Das Abzugsgewicht ist etwas höher als der deutsche Hobbyschütze gewohnt ist aber für einen Fortgeschrittenen oder gar Veteranen trotzdem sehr gut. Gewohnheit und Schussfestigkeit braucht jeder Jäger.
Ich habe die Büchse mit original Ruger Montage in 30mm Ringausführung versehen. Stahl und leicht zu (de-)montieren.
Der Lauf ist gute 60cm lang, das Geschoss hat volle Energieausbeute. Trotzdem - der Blockverschluss-Bauweise geschuldet - liegt die Gesamtlänge nur bei 107cm. Mündungsgewinde kann nachgeschnitten werden. Da das Baujahr 1996 ist und Ruger da schon seine eigenen Läufe gefertigt hat, ist Präzision auch keine Glücksache mehr sondern mit einer großen Auswahl an Laborierungen gegeben.
