The K5 hunting model is a variation of the K5 break-action rifle from Merkel, characterized by its artistic hand-engraved hunting motifs on the silver action. These artistic embellishments elegantly contrast with the fine walnut stock, which features a slight pig's back and a Bavarian cheek piece with double fold.
Inside the Merkel K5 beats the heart of the minimalist tipping block lock. This locking mechanism, typical for Merkel, ensures a steel-on-steel lockup and is distinguished by its extremely compact design. Its titanium-nitrided coating ensures durability, and it can be easily removed, facilitating cleaning. Especially when traveling, the weapon can be safely stored by separating the lock from the rest of the rifle.
The titanium-nitrided direct trigger is particularly customizable, as it is adjustable in terms of lateral position and length. This allows it to be perfectly tailored to the individual shooting hand. The trigger breaks extremely precisely at a minimal pull weight of only 600 g. The manual cocking mechanism contributes to the safe handling of the K5 and operates silently with little effort.
For a low sight line over the barrel, the K5 uses the Suhl tilt-mounting system (SAM). This mount is particularly precise in repeatability and extremely resistant to shooting stresses.
The standard Merkel I-Sight sighting system is not only removable but also can be adjusted longitudinally on the barrel. This allows a wide range of suppressors to be mounted with the existing muzzle thread M 15x1, whether in front of or over the barrel.
The break-action rifle K5 offers a wide selection of calibers and is available in three different barrel lengths. The standard calibers are available in barrel lengths of 51 cm and 56 cm, with the 51 cm variant always being fluted. Magnum calibers are delivered with a barrel length of 60 cm.
Despite its total weight of about 2.3 kg and a total length of at least 97 cm, the break-action rifle K5 presents itself as an extremely agile rifle. Its exceptional ease of handling is appreciated not only on the stalk but in various situations. The option to choose between left or right-handed configurations is also available.
