Deck cartridges caliber 7.62 × 63 mm .30-06 Springfield for the Garand rifle.

The .30-06 Springfield cartridge (decimal caliber 7.62 × 63 mm) was introduced in 1906 as standard ammunition for rifles in the US Army. It evolved from the .30-03 developed in 1903 for the new infantry rifle Springfield M1903, which replaced the old ordnance weapon Krag-Jørgensen model M1898 starting in 1903. Initially, it adopted the round-nose bullet of the old .30 Krag ammunition but used a rimless case with an extended powder chamber. In 1906, the centerfire cartridge was further developed into the .30-06 in its current form. Following the findings of other countries, it was equipped with a pointed bullet and has since been used by the American armed forces as .30 Caliber Ball M1906 (.30-06 Sprg. M1). During World War II, the ballistics were further improved (version M2). (Show description in original language)

Man übernahm
verbessert (Version M2).
