This airsoft replica from Ares Airsoft is a 1:1 reproduction of the British bolt-action rifle used by the British armed forces in World War II. The No. 4 MK1 was officially introduced to the armed forces in 1941 and was easier to produce compared to its predecessor. During World War II, production was further simplified, so that by around 1943, the cost of manufacturing a rifle was only about 9 euros. Even after the war, the rifle was further developed. Today, it is often used as a hunting weapon or by some police and reserve units. The airsoft rifle from Ares Airsoft has been beautifully and particularly high-quality replicated in 6mm BB caliber. As already known from the Ares Karabiner 98K, this collector's rifle is again made of up to 95% stainless steel of grade 304 in QPQ finish, making the rifle particularly close to the original. The rifle is complemented by a particularly beautiful stock made of glazed real wood, which is really beautifully crafted and matches the rifle perfectly. For the safe storage of the collector's replica, the rifle is delivered in a practical and visually matching gun case - see product photos. For the shooting mechanism, Ares also relies on the proven bolt-action spring pressure shooting system for this airsoft replica, allowing the bolt-action airsoft rifle to deliver up to 1.4 joules on the test bench.
As the name already indicates, this Ares Airsoft SMLE No.4 MK1 replica is a high-quality steel variant. Ares Airsoft uses 95% stainless steel of grade 304 for manufacturing, which is then provided with the QPC finish. This gives the material significantly improved corrosion resistance as well as the black surface finish known from sharp stainless steel weapons. Thanks to the material, the airsoft replica in the steel version appears particularly authentic and weighs a respectable 3.8 kg (original SMLE No. 4 approx. 4 kg). In addition to stainless steel, Ares Airsoft also uses steel or sheet steel for the production of fittings and housing parts. These are certainly positive properties that make the Ares Airsoft SMLE in the steel version very robust and simultaneously authentic. Other fine details include the original markings, which have been meticulously and deeply engraved, stamped, or cast into the material by Ares Airsoft. For example, the main housing features the inscription - No.4 MK1 Long Branch 1942 -. As already mentioned, and to further enhance the authentic feel, this version of the SMLE rifle also comes with a particularly beautiful Ares Airsoft real wood stock. In addition to a particularly beautiful grain, the color of the stock has also been perfectly chosen by Ares Airsoft. In combination with the material used and the details, this steel version comes even closer to the sharp original and is practically indistinguishable from it. In short, this replica is probably the most visually beautiful SMLE No.4 MK1 airsoft rifle currently available on the market. Especially collectors can hardly pass by this airsoft replica.
To shoot, just like with the real rifle, the bolt is pulled back with the cocking lever and pushed forward again. The rifle is then ready to fire with the magazine inserted. Ares Airsoft also uses a so-called Direct BB Feeding System for this rifle, which is built similarly to the Striker series. The side-mounted safety is, of course, fully functional on this high-quality airsoft replica and can only be engaged when the rifle is in a cocked state. Furthermore, it can be immediately recognized from the outside whether the rifle is cocked or not. Ares Airsoft has really pulled out all the stops in the development here.
To make the rifle usable for airsoft players, the magazine was rethought during development. The magazine with a steel sheet cover can be easily removed from the rifle from below for reloading and filled with BBs. A magazine with a capacity of approximately 35 shots is included in the delivery.
Due to the spring pressure shooting mechanism, the rifle can be used independently of temperature. On colder days, this is a clear advantage over airsoft models with gas or CO2 shooting propulsion.
An adjustable Hop-Up system is also present. This is located in the front area of the bolt. To adjust it, simply pull the cocking lever all the way back, and the system can be adjusted at the top using an Allen key.
Finally, the overall package of the Ares Airsoft SMLE No.4 MK1 in the steel version is rounded off with a beautiful gun case with metal latches. Although the case is unfortunately made of composite plastic, it provides a coherent overall picture due to its authentic appearance, which is reminiscent of a wooden transport case. With a color adjustment or processing in airbrush design, the case can be enhanced to match the reproduced wood grain of the carbine inside. In its delivery state, the case comes in olive plastic with the inscription - Chest. S.A. No.15 MK1 - printed on the outside - as shown in the photos.

Bei dieser Airsoftreplika von Ares Airsoft handelt es sich um eine 1:1 Nachbildung der britischen Repetierbüchse, wie sie von den britischen Streitkräften im 2. Weltkrieg verwendet wurde. Die No. 4 MK1 wurde 1941 offiziell bei den Streitkräften eingeführt und war im Vergleich zur Vorgängerversion einfacher zu produzieren. Während des 2. Weltkrieges wurde die Produktion noch weiter vereinfacht, so dass die Herstellung eines Gewehres um das Jahr 1943 umgerechnet nur noch etwa 9 Euro kostete. Auch nach dem Krieg wurde das Gewehr weiterentwickelt. Heute wird es gerne als Jagdwaffe oder von einigen Polizei- und Reservisteneinheiten weiterverwendet. Das Airsoftgewehr von Ares Airsoft wurde sehr schön und besonders hochwertig im Kaliber 6mm BB nachgebaut. Wie bereits vom Ares Karabiner 98K bekannt, ist auch dieses Sammlergewehr wieder bis zu 95% aus Edelstahl der Güteklasse 304 im QPQ-Finish gefertigt, wodurch das Gewehr dem Original besonders nahe kommt. Abgerundet wird das Gewehr durch den besonders schönen Schaft aus lasiertem Echtholz, der wirklich besonders schön verarbeitet und passend zum Gewehr ist. Zur sicheren Aufbewahrung der Sammlerreplika wird das Gewehr in einem praktischen und optisch passenden Waffenkoffer geliefert - siehe Produktfotos. Als Schussmechanismus setzt Ares auch bei diesem Airsoft Replika auf das bewährte Bolt-Action Federdruck-Schusssystem, dank dem das Repetier-Airsoft-Gewehr bis zu 1,4 Joule auf den Prüfstand bringt.
Wie die Bezeichnung bereits wiedergibt, handelt es sich bei diesem Ares Airsoft SMLE No.4 MK1 Nachbau um eine hochwertige Stahlvariante. Ares Airsoft setzt hier bei der Fertigung auf 95% Edelstahl der Güteklasse 304, der anschließend mit dem QPC-Finish versehen wird. Dadurch erhält das Material eine stark verbesserte Korrosionsbeständigkeit sowie das von scharfen Edelstahlwaffen bekannte schwarze Oberflächenfinish. Dank des Materials wirkt der Airsoft-Nachbau in der Stahlversion besonders authentisch und bringt ein stattliches Gewicht von ca. 3,8 kg auf die Waage (Original SMLE No. 4 ca. 4 kg). Neben Edelstahl verwendet Ares Airsoft auch Stahl bzw. Stahlblech für die Herstellung der Beschläge und Gehäuseteile. Durchaus positive Eigenschaften, die das Ares Airsoft SMLE in der Stahlausführung sehr robust und gleichzeitig authentisch machen. Weitere feine Details sind die originalgetreuen Markierungen, die von Ares Airsoft detailliert und tief in das Material eingraviert, eingeschlagen oder eingegossen wurden. So findet sich zum Beispiel auf dem Hauptgehäuse der Schriftzug - No.4 MK1 Long Branch 1942 -. Wie bereits erwähnt, und um das originalgetreue Gefühl noch zu verstärken, kommt auch diese Version des SMLE Gewehres mit einem besonders schönen Ares Airsoft Echtholzschaft. Neben einer besonders schönen Maserung wurde auch die Farbgebung des Schaftes von Ares Airsoft perfekt gewählt. In Verbindung mit dem verwendeten Material und den Details kommt diese Stahlausführung dem scharfen Vorbild noch näher und ist vom Original eigentlich nicht mehr zu unterscheiden. Kurzum, es handelt sich bei diesem Nachbau um das wohl optisch schönste SMLE No.4 MK1 Airsoftgewehr, das derzeit auf dem Markt erhältlich ist. Vor allem Sammler kommen an diesem Airsoftnachbau eigentlich kaum vorbei.
Zum Schießen wird wie beim echten Gewehr der Verschluss mittels Spannhebel nach hinten gezogen und wieder nach vorne geschoben. Schon ist das Gewehr bei eingesetztem Magazin schussbereit. Ares Airsoft nutzt auch bei diesem Gewehr wieder ein sogenanntes Direct BB Feeding System, welches ähnlich zur Striker Serie aufgebaut ist. Die seitlich angebrachte Sicherung ist bei diesem hochwertigen Airsoftnachbau natürlich voll funktionsfähig und kann nur eingelegt werden, wenn sich das Gewehr im gespannten Zustand befindet. Weiterhin kann originalgetreu sofort von außen erkannt werden, ob das Gewehr gespannt oder nicht gespannt ist. Ares Airsoft hat hier wirklich sämtliche Register bei der Entwicklung gezogen
Um das Gewehr auch für Airsoftspieler nutzbar zu machen, wurde bei der Entwicklung des Magazines etwas umgedacht. So kann das Magazin mit Stahlblechhülle zum Nachladen, einfach nach unten aus dem Gewehr entnommen und mit Kugeln befüllt werden. Im Lieferumfang ist ein Magazin mit einer Kapazität von ca. 35 Schuss enthalten.
Durch den Federdruck-Schussmechanismus kann das Gewehr temperaturunabhängig eingesetzt werden. An kälteren Tagen ein klarer Vorteil gegenüber Airsoftmodellen mit Gas- oder CO2-Schussantrieb.
Auch ein einstellbares Hop-Up System ist vorhanden. Dieses befindet sich im vorderen Bereich des Verschlusses. Hierzu einfach den Spannhebel komplett nach hinten ziehen, schon kann das System an der Oberseite mittels eines Innensechskantschlüssels eingestellt werden.
Zu guter letzt wird das Gesamtpaket des Ares Airsoft SMLE No.4 MK1 in der Stahl Ausführung noch mit einer schönen Waffenkiste mit Metallverschlüssen abgerundet. Die Kiste ist zwar leider aus Verbundkunststoff gefertigt, sorgt aber durch ihre authentische Optik, die einer Holz-Transportkiste nachempfunden ist, für ein stimmiges Gesamtbild. Mit einer farblichen Anpassung oder Bearbeitung im Airbrush-Design lässt sich die Kiste durch die reproduzierte Holzmaserung passend zum innen befindlichen Karabiner aufwerten. Im Auslieferungszustand kommt die Kiste im oliven Kunststoff mit an der Außenseite aufgedrucktem Chest. S.A. No.15 MK1 Schriftzug - wie auf den Fotos gezeigt.
