Former handguard of an East German Mpi-K.
This AK variant did not include a cleaning rod and therefore lacks the hole normally intended for this purpose in the lower area. Feel free to browse the Kalashnikov catalog and find Waldo:

The previous owner spray-painted the piece with black paint. I have removed this paint layer as much as possible with solvent on the visible surfaces; there are still remnants of the paint inside.
It could certainly be minimally sanded again to refresh its appearance, or simply left as is for a light used look.
The handguard has minimal optical signs of use but feels unused in terms of substance. Despite its age, it is in excellent condition.
WARNING! Just a reminder - Since this is an MPi-K handguard, the guide hole for a cleaning rod is missing!
It can also fit into AK74 Saiga models with modification.

Diese AK Variante hatte keinen Reinigungsstab vorgesehen und entbirgt daher der hierfür normalerweise angedachten Bohrung im unteren Bereich. Stöbern Sie gerne im Kalashnikov Cataologe und finden Sie Waldo:

Der Vorbesitzer hatte das Stück mit schwarzer Farbe sprühlackiert. Habe diese Farbschicht außen auf den sichtbaren Flächen so gut es ging mit Lösemittel entfernt, innen haften noch Rückstände der Farbe.
Könnte man sicherlich nochmal minimal fein abschmirgeln um ihn optisch aufzufrischen, oder einfach so belassen für einen leichten Used-Look.
Handschutz hat minimale optische Gebrauchsspuren, wirkt von der Substanz her aber wie ungenutzt. Er ist trotz des Alters hervorragend in Schuss.
ACHTUNG! Nochmal der Hinweis - Da es sich um einen MPi-K Handschutz handelt fehlt hier die Führungsbohrung für einen Putzstab!
Passt mit Modifikation auch in AK74 Saiga Modelle.
