Browning GPDA 9 Blank Firing Pistol / Nickel Plated The model of the blank firing pistol Browning GPDA9 is the Belgian FN Browning High Power (short HP) in caliber 9x19mm. In 1925, John Moses Browning completed the first specimen of the weapon at the Belgian manufacturer FN. After Browning's death in 1925, a special double-column magazine was manufactured, and the HP was thus developed to series production. This magazine increased the capacity to 13+1 rounds. The locking mechanism was the improved system further developed for the FN-Browning system. This was insensitive to dirt and also cheaper to manufacture. It didn't take long for the Belgian military and police to introduce the pistol as a service weapon. Even after World War II, the HP continued to be used by authorities. In some cases, it is still in use today. The blank firing pistol in caliber 9mm P.A.K is manufactured under license by the quality manufacturer Umarex. The also double-column steel magazine holds 9 cartridges. A safety was omitted in the signal pistol. Instead, a ambidextrous decocking lever was installed. A combined single/double action trigger is used to fire the shot. Our Assessment In tests of Umarex productions, we always find it difficult to identify points of criticism. This is due to the high manufacturing level and the quality standards of the manufacturer. This starts with the packaging of the blank firing pistol. It consists of a plastic case padded with foam. Included are an instruction manual, a launch cup, and a barrel cleaning brush. The Browning GPDA9 is not a replica but only inspired by the original model. This is also the reason why there are no original markings present. Nevertheless, one has the feeling of having a "real weapon" in front of them. The gas pistol is absolutely clean and of high quality. There are no machining marks or dents in the elegant nickel-plated finish. There is also no play in the slide. As good as it looks, it feels just as good. The signal pistol is well balanced and fits perfectly in the hand. The shape of the grip panels provides additional grip, even with a damp shooting hand. The double-column magazine can be easily loaded with ammunition and does not jam when feeding into the chamber. The indentations at the end of the slide ensure that the blank firing pistol can be easily reloaded. The decocking lever works reliably and provides the necessary safety when carrying the weapon. In summary, one can only congratulate Umarex. The Browning GPDA9 gas/signal pistol is once again a very good and reliable implementation of a tried-and-true service pistol. Browning GPDA 9 Schreckschusspistole / vernickeltDas Vorbild der Schreckschusspistole Browning GPDA9 ist die belgische FN Browning High Power (kurz HP) im Kaliber 9x19mm. 1925 stellte John Moses Browning das erste Exemplar der Waffe beim belgischen Produzenten FN fertig. Nach Brownings Tod im Jahr 1925 wurde ein spezielles zweireihiges Magazin angefertigt und die HP damit zu Serienreife fertigentwickelt. Durch dieses Magazin erhöhte sich die Kapazität auf 13+1 Schuss. Als Verschluss diente das nun zum FN-Browning-System weiterentwickelte verbesserte System. Dieses war gegen Schmutz unempfindlich und zugleich günstiger in der Herstellung. So dauerte es nicht lange bis belgisches Militär und Polizei die Pistole als Ordonnanzwaffe einführten. Auch nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg wurde die HP weiterhin behördlich verwendet. Teilweise ist sie heute noch im Einsatz. Die Gaspistole im Kaliber 9mm P.A.K wird vom Qualitätshersteller Umarex in Lizenz gefertigt. Das ebenfalls zweireihige Stahlblechmagazin nimmt 9 Patronen auf. Auf eine Sicherung wurde bei der Signalpistole verzichtet. Stattdessen wurde ein beidseitig bedienbarer Entspannhebel verbaut. Zur Schussauslösung dient ein kombinierter Single- / Double Action Abzug.Unsere EinschätzungBei Tests von Umarex-Produktionen fällt es uns immer wieder schwer Kritikpunkte zu finden. Dafür sorgen das hohe Fertigungsniveau sowie der Qualitätsanspruch des Herstellers. Das fängt schon bei der Verpackung der Schreckschuss Pistole an. Diese besteht aus einem mit Schaumstoff gepolsterten Kunststoffkoffer. Mit dabei sind eine Anleitung, ein Abschussbecher und eine Laufreinigungsbürste. Die Browning GPDA9 ist kein Nachbau sondern nur an das Vorbild angelehnt. Das ist auch der Grund dafür, dass keine originalen Markings vorhanden sind. Trotzdem hat man das Gefühl eine "echte Waffe" vor sich liegen zu haben. Die Gas Pistole ist absolut sauber und hochwertig gefertigt. So findet man weder Bearbeitungsspuren, noch Macken im edlen vernickelten Finish. Auch ein Spiel im Schlittenlauf ist nicht erkennbar. So gut sie aussieht, so gut fühlt sie sich auch an. Die Signal Pistole ist gut ausbalanciert und liegt perfekt in der Hand. Die Form der Griffschalen vermittelt zusätzlichen Halt, auch mit einer feuchten Schusshand. Das zweireihige Magazin lässt sich gut mit Munition bestücken und klemmt auch bei der Zuführung in die Kammer nicht. Die Vertiefungen am Ende des Schlittens sorgen dafür, dass man die Schreckschuss-Pistole gut Durchladen kann. Der Entspannhebel arbeitet zuverlässig und sorgt beim Tragen der Waffe für die nötige Sicherheit. Zusammenfassend kann man Umarex nur gratulieren. Auch die Browning GPDA9 Gas-/Signalpistole ist wieder einmal eine sehr gute und zuverlässige Umsetzung einer altbewährten Dienstpistole.
