Sport revolver, target revolver Smith & Wesson model 17-3 in caliber .22lr. With barrel weight, Pachmayr rubber grip, and wood match grip. Shows signs of wear on the bluing.
The Smith & Wesson model 17 is a six-shot double-action revolver with a chamber for .22 LR. It is based on the Smith & Wesson medium-sized K-frame. The models 16 and 17 from Smith & Wesson originated from the company's hand ejector series from the pre-World War II era in the 1930s. These two revolver models were introduced to the market after World War II as counterparts, known as the K-32 and K-22 models. The K-32 Masterpiece (model 16) was introduced in 1935 and had a caliber of .32 S&W Long. Production was halted during World War II, and the revolver was reintroduced in 1947 along with the K-22 Masterpiece (model 17) in caliber .22 Long Rifle. The model 17 features an adjustable sight and a fixed sight in Partridge style. It was designed as a target revolver and could be ordered from S&W in the 1960s with "The Three T's": Target Trigger, Target Hammer, and Target Grips. Standard barrel lengths were 4", 6", and 8 3/8". The model 17 was discontinued in 1998.

Das Smith & Wesson Modell 17 ist ein sechsschüssiger Double-Action- Revolver mit einer Kammer für .22 LR . Es basiert auf dem Smith & Wesson mittelgroßen K-Rahmen von. Die Modelle 16 und 17 von Smith & Wesson haben ihren Ursprung in der Handauswerferserie des Unternehmens aus der Zeit vor dem Zweiten Weltkrieg in den 1930er Jahren. Diese beiden Revolvermodelle kamen nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg als Gegenstücke auf den Markt, bekannt als die Modelle K-32 und K-22. Das K-32 Masterpiece (Modell 16) kam 1935 auf den Markt und hatte ein Kaliber .32 S&W Long . Während des Zweiten Weltkriegs wurde die Produktion eingestellt und der Revolver wurde 1947 zusammen mit dem K-22 Masterpiece (Modell 17) im Kaliber .22 Long Rifle wieder eingeführt. Das Modell 17 verfügt über ein verstellbares Visier und ein festgestecktes Visier im Patridge-Stil. Er wurde als Zielrevolver konzipiert und konnte in den 1960er Jahren bei S&W mit „The Three T's“ bestellt werden: Target Trigger, Target Hammer und Target Grips. Standardlauflängen waren 4", 6" und 8 3/8". Das Modell 17 wurde 1998 eingestellt.
