The Walther PP is a self-loading pistol from the German manufacturer Carl Walther GmbH. The model designation "PP" stands for "Polizeipistole" (police pistol). Developed by Fritz Walther, the Walther PP revolutionized the construction of single-action pistols as the first pistol with a constructively high-quality, reliably functioning double-action trigger starting in 1929. The Walther PP is a simply constructed, non-locking recoil-operated pistol with a fixed barrel and mass lock. Before, during, and after World War II, the Walther PP was part of the police and authority armament in numerous countries, including in the Reichsfinanzverwaltung, where it was last mentioned in 1943. In the military, it was part of the standard armament as an officer's pistol. Its compactness and reliability made and continue to make the pistols a popular companion for hunters for trapping, finishing shots, and self-defense.

Die Walther PP ist eine Selbstladepistole des deutschen Waffenherstellers Carl Walther GmbH. Die Modellbezeichnung „PP“ steht für „Polizeipistole“. Entwickelt von Fritz Walther, revolutionierte die Walther PP ab 1929 als erste Pistole mit konstruktiv hochwertigem, problemlos funktionierenden Double-Action-Abzug den Bau von Spannabzugspistolen. Bei der Walther PP handelt es sich um einen einfach aufgebauten, unverriegelten Rückstoßlader mit feststehendem Lauf und Masseverschluss. Vor, während und nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg gehörte die Walther PP in zahlreichen Ländern zur Polizei- und Behördenbewaffnung, so u. a. auch in der Reichsfinanzverwaltung, wo sie letztmals 1943 Erwähnung fand. Beim Militär gehörte sie als Offizierspistole zur Ordonnanzbewaffnung. Ihre Kompaktheit und Zuverlässigkeit machten und machen die Pistolen zu einem beliebten Begleiter von Jägern für Fallenjagd, Fangschuss und Selbstverteidigung.
