Developed by Fritz Walther, the Walther PP revolutionized the construction of single-action pistols as the first pistol with a constructively high-quality, reliably functioning double-action trigger starting in 1929. The Walther PP is a simply constructed, non-locking recoil-operated pistol with a fixed barrel and mass lock. Before, during, and after World War II, the Walther PP was part of the police and authority armament in numerous countries, including in the Reichsfinanzverwaltung, where it was last mentioned in 1943. In the military, it was part of the standard armament as an officer's pistol.
