The Smith & Wesson Model 10, formerly known as the Smith & Wesson .38 Hand Ejector Model of 1899, Smith & Wesson Military & Police, or Smith & Wesson Victory Model, is a K-frame revolver. The Model 10 revolver, produced since 1899, is a six-shot revolver in .38 Special caliber, double-action with fixed sights. Throughout its production, it was available with barrel lengths of 2 inches (51 mm), 3 inches (76 mm), 4 inches (100 mm), 5 inches (130 mm), and 6 inches (150 mm). For special orders, barrels with a length of 2.5 inches (64 mm) were also manufactured. Over 6 million units of this type have been produced over the years, making it the most produced handgun of the 20th century.
Due to military orders, the hand-ejector model became known as the .38 Military and Police. In the same year, Smith & Wesson began offering the .38 S&W Special (also known as .38 Special) in response to reports from military sources in the Philippines regarding the relative ineffectiveness of the .38 Long Colt cartridge. This is a slightly extended version of the .38 Long Colt cartridge with a higher bullet weight (158 grains) and an increased powder charge from 18 to 21 grains.
The Model 10 was available in both blued steel and nickel-plated steel or stainless steel for most of its production time. Starting with the Model 10–5 series in the late 1960s, the tapered barrel and characteristic "half-moon" front sight were replaced with a straight bull barrel and a sloped, machined ramp sight. Newer models of the Model 10 can fire all currently produced .38 Special cartridges, including +P+ cartridges.

Durch die Bestellung des Militärswurde das Hand-Ejector-Modell als .38 Military and Police bekannt. Im selben Jahr begann Smith & Wesson, als Reaktion auf Berichte von Militärquellen auf den Philippinen über die relative Ineffektivität der Patrone im Kaliber .38 Long Colt , die .38 S&W Special (auch bekannt als .38 Special), anzubieten. Dabei handelt es sich um eine leicht verlängerte Version der .38 Long Colt-Patrone mit höherem Geschossgewicht (158 Grain) und einer von 18 auf 21 Grain erhöhten Pulverladung.
Das Model 10 war während des größten Teils der Produktionszeit sowohl in brüniertem Stahl als auch in vernickeltem Stahl bzw. Edelstahl erhältlich. Beginnend mit der Modellreihe 10–5 in den späten 1960er Jahren wurden der sich verjüngende Lauf und das charakteristische „Halbmond“-Korn durch einen geraden Bull Barrel und ein geneigtes, gefrästes Rampenkorn ersetzt. Neuere Modelle des Model 10 können alle heute produzierten .38 Special Patronen bis einschließlich +P+ Patronen verschießen.
Diese außergewöhnliche Waffe wurde speziell für Schützen und Jäger entwickelt, die hauptsächlich Kaliber .38 Spezial schießen. Der unverwüstliche Fangschuß-Revolver!
