The company Norma, originating from Norway, has been producing popular ammunition for hunters and shooters worldwide for over 100 years. The ammunition lines are offered in over 110 different calibers.
Among the most important cartridges are the Alaska, Oryx, and Vulkan lines, which are also very popular in Germany.
Norma Oryx - "One for all"
In the Norma Oryx cartridge, the bullet jacket and lead core are soldered together. This achieves a strong bullet construction that reliably prevents separation of the core and jacket even when hitting hard bone material. Thus, the bullet expands very quickly, but the solder connection prevents the separation of the bullet core and jacket. This significantly contributes to the bullet providing excellent penetration for outstanding depth effect. The Norma Oryx is a lead cartridge suitable for all game species. It is suitable for hunting roe deer as well as red deer, moose, wild boar, and black bears.
It is available in all common calibers.
Norma Vulkan - Ideal for local game
Vulkan is a classic hunting bullet with a thin jacket in the front area, allowing the bullet to expand quickly and release a lot of energy. The jacket is crimped into the core at the bullet tip. This effectively protects the lead core from recoil damage in the magazine. A very popular and reliable bullet among many local hunters, for example, for black, red, and fallow deer.
The cartridge is available in all calibers from 6.5 x 55 to 9.3 x 64R.
Norma Alaska - The cartridge for moose hunters
Norma Alaska features a strong lead tip bullet with a tombak jacket, which expands quickly and well. The bullet is designed for moose hunting and is therefore offered from caliber 6.5 x 55.
Norma Kalahari - the lead-free alternative
In the area of lead-free ammunition, Norma also offers a real alternative with the Kalahari line, which is in demand in Germany due to the spreading ban on lead-containing ammunition. The Kalahari projectile is a monolithic copper bullet and is produced using a pressing process. The hollow point extends into the front third of the bullet and has 6 predetermined breaking points. This is a partially disintegrating bullet: The construction is designed so that the bullet only opens deep in the game body, and the front third forms 6 razor-sharp flags. These separate from the shaft at the end of the mushrooming process to achieve maximum wounding. The caliber-sized bullet remainder promises high depth effect and achieves exit wounds.
